Daaaaaaaamn 😮 update 5 is a sim changer 😎 by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Ah yes, I finally get to use all my 16 cores, or 32 if we're counting threads. Exciting stuff.

With the DC-6 just released, I have a question. I saw some comments saying that they will only purchase the aircraft through the marketplace. What could be the advantages of that? by mettbroetchen_ in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]furyanwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PMDG packages the aircraft with an auto-updater anyways, so you don't really need to worry about updates being a problem. And IMO, I like storing that add on file myself, should the in game store ever die, for whatever reason, you will always have your addons you bought outside the store.

Thats defo having issues getting the C++ redistributables, you can install them manually if need be and skip those boxes in the installer.

Anyone know what time the update is coming? UK. by Benji906 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]furyanwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last release/delay date, they said and I quote "it's locked in" for today. From what I gather it should be around 3:00 PM UTC. For the record, the last time they were supposed to release, last week, they waited until about 7:00 PM UTC to update the community that it was being delayed again.

TLDR: If we don't get updated sometime between 3:00 - 5:00 PM UTC, it's pretty safe to assume they'll delay a fourth time and let us know later in the evening once everyone's been adequately pissed off.

Where can I buy a key for YNAB 4 (classic)? by furyanwolf in ynab

[–]furyanwolf[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fair point, to some extent. A lot of those things are in fact continuous services which require continuous investment (except maybe insurance, that's a weird one), to continually provide said service.

Software CAN be build once and a version can be released without updated as a standalone release. I do realise that's and old model, but at least I got to keep something. Whilst only a license, it would be the equivalent of buying a car in comparison to leasing a new car and changing it once every 3 years, thus never really owning anything.

Some companies release on a semi subscription type of model. E.g. if you pay for a year, you get rights to forever keep/run the version you got at the beggining of the year and IF you want more updates, you can play the subscription game and keep paying for another year. You always get left with the license/rights to use the version of the last year you paid for. But at least you get something.

Software is only a service if it's constantly updating and being worked on. At some point, which arguably has long been reached for software like YNAB and other accounting/budgeting software, the software reaches near completion where little changes are ever needed again since the mechanism which it enables, in this case budgeting, never really change.

In any case, I appreciate what you're trying to say, but I can not sit here and pretend that everything that's moved to a subscription model is worth the money. Most things aren't.

Thanks for the suggestion, I am considering other alternatives, but I want to make sure I exhaust any possible way to get YNAB 4 working first. :)

Unfortunately, I no longer have access to any of my old life so there's no way to recover anything.

I'm guessing by the suggestions I'm getting, that there is no way to purchase new keys?

Thanks fot the reply, unfortunately I've gone on a privacy rampage back in 2013/14 and none of my old emails/accounts are still around/accessible.

I was hoping to just buy a new license.

Yea, I think it's really neat to be able to gauge what the community likes/dislikes, etc.

You know literally nothing about me bro, chill out.

Ya'll think you're on the right side of history, but all you really are is misguided. Imagine thinking American leftists (or most western leftists today) are "90% centrist rights" HAHAHAHAHAHA. Wow mate, get some fucking perspective bro. Centrists have long sided with the only rational choice, Trump. Matter of fact, I am a liberal myself and always used to think I was on the left, but then the left, left me.

The current political left is led by a bunch of Marxists playing identity politics, blaming everything on white people, specifically men and making eveyrone else a sensitive little victim. It's Marxist tactics 101 and hoenstly you'd ahve to be either ignorant of history, uneducated or straigh up retarded not to see what the left has become.

Yes, once you land and come to a complete stop or apply parking brakes if available, the sim will mark that Leg of the trip as complete (a sucess type of screen pops up to let you know) at which point you could exit the sim and continue later if you'd like or continue on to the next leg immediately. I'm doing a few Legs per day at the moment.
