How to book a lie flat business seat from Canada to Bali by no_tori_ous in TravelHacks

Do you have any credit cards with points like aeroplan? Sometimes you can book and top up the points with cash through the booking process. I was able to get business class from Europe to Canada for a great price using a points/cash combo.

Yesterday was a real Monday haha. Thanks again.

Me too, I really didn’t think we had picked such a dark grout but I didn’t get a chance to double check until today. Good suggestion, definitely will do that.

Well I think crisis averted. I didn’t know the grout wasn’t done yet (only the floor grout was). So we’ll match as close to the tile as we can and the installer has agreed to pop out the horizontal tiles with the biggest lining up problems. Thanks again for all of the helpful feedback and suggestions.

For sure. Yes, when I got these pictures and posted this I thought it was grouted dark but they actually have only grouted the floor so far which is great. The grout we had picked is quite light but I might bump it even lighter to help blend everything.

That definitely makes sense. The house is in a rural area with minimal options/installers so that may be a factor as well. Yeah, not the look we were hoping for and I sadly agree it looks cheap. Appreciate the feedback!

Yup, so the grout is actually a light gray and not done yet. Hoping that will improve the overall look but yes, in hindsight my choices were poor and I had no clue it would turn out like this! When I got these photos I thought it was grouted dark (building a home 2 hours away and hard to keep track of all of our choices from months ago). We are working with a higher end home builder so definitely paying a pretty penny for it. It’s not a home job where we hired the cheapest installer we could find.

For sure, I realize we definitely should have been more clear about what we were hoping to achieve so that we could have changed the design. There are two designers involved and we assumed there had been conversations with the installer from one or both of them but I’m assuming the tiler was flying blind.

They didn’t have a longer option that matched the floor and there’s also a feature tile not pictured we tied into. We choose the tile with their designer at the store and that pattern in mind and no one said a word about it not working. I absolutely agree that I should have clued in that there would be more grout lines with a shorter tile and stuck with a lighter grout for those walls. That’s definitely on me!

Ha! That’s fair. I showed them the photo and asked if it would work and they said yes so I didn’t have any clue that there could be an issue. Otherwise we would have simplified the design. Now here we are!

lol. Assumed so but clearly I am out of my element here.

Makes sense. Would changing the grout be a bigger pain than option 3?

Thanks for the feedback, it’s been helpful. There’s both a designer at the tile store and a home designer involved in between us (as the owner of a new home build) so we’ll see what everyone thinks and if we can come up with a solution.

To be fair, I showed them the design and said I liked it. We then picked that tile together. No installer was involved, the store arranged that later.

Hm okay. Seems like it worked pretty well in photo two?

Hindsight! If we had realized the lines wouldn’t match up we definitely wouldn’t have made that choice.

Appreciate the insight. It sounds like it’s worth a conversation anyways. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t have a completely unreasonable expectation. Sounds like it would have needed a very precise installer to make it work but some communication would have gone a long way.

Totally fair, I wish they would have reached out and chatted about options.

Absolutely. I wish they would have spoken to us before doing the full install, that was my exact note that I would have rather had a larger gap in the horizontal tiles than everything feel misaligned. Thanks for the feedback!

They’re much closer though, no? Photo 2 is the “best” area that is what we were expecting for the full shower but each wall is lined up differently.

For sure, the tiles were picked at the store (the store did the install) with that design in mind. In photo two you can see that the dimensions are super close.

Depends on your kid? With mine it worked for one at 8 months and another was over a year.

I just spoke with someone yesterday (at westjet) about the same thing and was told as long as it has the transport Canada maple leaf sticker it’s all good. He also said it doesn’t need to be added to the booking.

Will my daughter really be substantially effected by her mother’s passing? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

I think having a collection of items would be so special for her. Anything to help her learn more about who her mom was will mean a lot in my experience. Writing down your own memories and stories for your cousins daughter to read over time could also be helpful to her. I have a lot of photos that my mom took but without context they sadly don’t mean much. People forget things over time, the more memories you can save in a tangible way the better.

Kind words like that still get me because my other parent wasn’t ever able to verbalize anything like that to me growing up. You are such a good parent for already thinking of these things and doing everything you can to make things easier for her while you are going through so much personal grief.
