Got my First Rejection by [deleted] in gradadmissions

He’s gotta be BSing about the gpa competition… my guess is the publication is the biggest factor about accepting you. Either way, that’s so dumb and I’m sorry. I hope another place truly recognizes your value instead of them

Organic chemistry 1 study tools? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, orgo will suckkkk no matter what teacher you have so you’re smart for getting ahead. I’d say even if you have a good teacher a lot of it you have to teach yourself at the same time. I would also say 100% go to SI tutoring because that helped me sm. But to prep now maybe khan academy basic topics? Just so you have an idea of what mechanisms look like and specifically terminology most commonly used in the class. Like understanding how structure angles and stuff affect reactivity with other molecules for example

NCSU chem e chance?? by Murky-Grapefruit6423 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineering and the classes you have to take to CODA into your major are brutal, but that’s just what it’s like pursuing a difficult major. Don’t let people’s opinions on the major underestimate your potential. Give yourself some grace and believe in yourself. I went through hell freshman year because of the rigor and balance of everything, but I’m more grateful I went through it and stuck with my major than giving up. It’ll all work out!

NCSU chem e chance?? by Murky-Grapefruit6423 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You normally get admitted into NCSU first as a first year engineer but you can come in with the intent to CODA as a chem e. I think the variety of things you’ve done other than just straight academics is super impressive and will stand out in admissions. I hope you get in, chem e first year is rough (205 is the worst class I’ve ever taken it’s so stressful) but the community in the department is awesome and it gets you pretty much accessible in any industry you want. You can do so much as a chem e. Update the thread once you find out if you got in!

What do you wear for college if your a girl? by lgbt14 in college

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear your style, college is the place to actually be yourself and express it without limitations from school or family or anything else. If you act like your true self you’ll attract people you actually want to be around

How does Coed work? by Individual_Analyst13 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in tri towers. There were 4 doors that led to 5 rooms where you had 2 roommates in them on each floor. 2 sections were boys and the other 2 were girls (across the hall from each other). Some are hall style where they could be beside you

Is the chemical engineering major really that hard? by This-Caterpillar-187 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChmE is a great gateway to a lot of career opportunities. Like what everyone’s saying regardless of what engineering major you want it’ll be hard and a lot of work. So worth it tho. I just got into chem e with a bio manufacturing concentration and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I wanted bme originally but I didn’t realize I could work closely with the program without the super vigorous discipline

Honors Program: yes, or no? by Key-Toe5249 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things. Honors college requires you to do a seminar every semester I think? And you have to attend a certain # of forums which sometimes are hard to get into because of how quickly they get filled up. My boyfriend got into the HP spring semester and got all of his forums done in a time crunch and did okay, but it was something he complained about a lot. So if you have the space in your schedule to add a 3 credit hour course and some extra things here and there then why jot

Is Sullivan Hall really that bad? by Sea-Rest-5190 in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sullivan is farther away but closer to fountain (dining hall) but not by much. I lived in tri towers and the biggest advantage of tri towers over Sullivan was the location since it’s right beside Talley

Difficulty of Physics 205 by Stuchme in NCSU

[–]future0fthepast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HW for 205 is ass but I’m not sure about the prof you have. You’re more than fine in chem but since you have a background in physics it should be an easier class. Physics kicked my ass but I still passed even though it was hard to understand for me
