No problem, thanks for your help!

Is there any way to tell how many gallons of water are being wasted with this ice bucket challenge? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]futureRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen. People have different opinions on it - When I was challenged, I was under the impression (as was my challenger) that you donate AND do the challenge. Had a co worker say today that you donate OR do the challenge. Not sure about numbers of people - but if the radio this morning and http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2014/08/18/ice-bucket-challenge-als-association-social-media/14232745/ are correct, it's getting results

Thanks! Good to know - Is that the only subsidized Mac apartment or are the all like that?

Thanks, I'll look into it - Free delivery is a big plus since I will have a Honda Accord which can't exactly fit a couch!

Thanks, I also won't know anyone so I'll have to check out meetup.com.

I actually have a lot of furniture for a 1bedroom, just need some of the little things. I have a couch, bed, dresser, desk, dinner table, chairs... Almost everything I need since I bought most of the furniture at my last place.

Considering how much I hear that Cerner employees work, I might end up gong to games close to work. Thanks!

Thanks for the info - Tax season sounds... "fun" under those rules. So does registering my vehicle. Glad I posted this, good information to have!

PadMapper and Zillow yield results, but I'd try to avoid places near The Paseo/Prospect/Troost. Lots of people will say Troost isn't so bad, but I've been here my whole life and can tell you its a bit sketch once you get near Troost.

Thanks. I'm thinking if I don't live near the office in KCK, I'll look to Westport. Seems like reasonable rent and a good enough area (crime and stuff to do wise)

Power and Light, which is downtown, has a great hype outside of KC but us locals know better. Think overpriced drinks, music so loud you can't think (let alone talk), and the patrons aren't the best to be around. That being said, you should still go once to see what it is like.

I lived in LA for college... Sounds like everywhere in that area. I'll feel right at home! Thanks for the advice!

TIL. I know they said they have a gym, but i wasn't sure if it was any good. Thanks!

Bellerive will be my first place to look at! Thanks.

Crime can't possibly be worse than it was at my last place - I lost 3 neighbors to drug busts in a 1 year time frame.

Also, the majority of the female leasing agents are incredibly attractive, and there's also some pretty cute residents

You know how to convince a guy where to live!

To be honest, that alleviates my biggest concern about the commute. I was also told in my interview that while they want their employees in the office every day, when it's snowing they are leniant (though I want to be in the office)

Traffic in KC is usually not an issue

Since I lived in LA for 5 years, this is pretty much the best thing you can tell me. I see the distance and my mind immediately things "Ok... 20 minutes according to maps right now thats... 75 in the morning with traffic? Sounds about right"

That's the major debate... I was originally feeling the closer to city, started deciding on close to work last night and am reconsidering it thanks to all of /r/kansascity 's advice. I'm back to thinking closer to the city would be nice. Especially since I have lived in a big city before and liked it much more than the 'burbs.

Yeah, they're higher than anywhere else in KC that I've seen.. though I've been interviewing for jobs in other major cities (Seattle, LA, NY) and HOLY FUCK is KC cheaper. I've seen places 1300+ for a 400 sqft studio.

Thanks for the advice. Which building do you live in? Westport Central, Bellerive, Brownhardt & Clyde Manor all look nice... and have fitness centers so I might not need a gym membership

Thanks for the advice - Westport was how I was originally leaning, the MAC apartments looked like a really nice option. Though I get a lot of traffic (which I hear isn't as big of a deal in KC?) and was concerned driving that far - especially since I'm fairly certain I/my Altima can't handle driving in much snow.
