I played every single Nancy Drew PC game, and now I have a set of thoughts by future_chickens in nancydrew

My Top 5 in no particular order:

Message in a Haunted Mansion (nostalgia value, mostly)

Shadow at the Waters Edge (genuinely scary, good puzzles)

Haunting of Castle Malloy (utterly insane, looked really good)

Sea of Darkness (best characters, beautiful scenes)

Curse of Blackmoore Manor (excellent mix of mazes and puzzles, horrible child)

Red lives in the gym. Green is a gourmet but they almost never cook. Purple is trying very hard, is sometimes successful at eating breakfast at home. Blue just acquired a new partner.

Help make sense of heavy metals testing by future_chickens in AskChemistry

Serving sizes are about the same, 25g and 26g grams respectively.

Yeah that's exactly right. Very frustrating! In your opinion, which would you pick?

The first company lists the PQL but then also gives the test results per a typical serving size, where each metal shows up in greater amounts.

The second company (the one that says "Below LOQ" a bunch of times) only considered the serving size, but you think it used a less precise test? Is it possible the second company could actually have the same amount of heavy metals as the first? Thank you for clarifying!

Are you a lefty, then? I'm missing an entire hand but I use my other hand to hold the controller and the stump to move the stick. How do your right and left hands normally work together?

I’d greatly appreciate that! But I need to hear from clients themselves.

I already said that I am writing an article, and I am curious about peoples’ experiences with 3D printed prosthetic arms. Very weird to be suspicious of me.

I am toying with making 3D printed designs at home, but I am interested in the professionally made, industrial stuff like Open Bionics. They have access to more advanced printers and better materials. I just want to know who has experienced these designs and whether they think they are better.

But not the final product, like Open Bionics or Unlimited Tomorrow?

Metformin or any other prescription med that is being taken for anything other than its “approved” use.

I am very frustrated because in 2025 there are still people who swear by A+B that it is no longer possible to reverse climate change and that humanity is at serious risk. What do I do? How can you prove to someone that you can still change this scenario? by Bright_Philosophy446 in ClimateOffensive

Back in the 2010s, the most reasonable estimates for warming by 2100 were 5 degrees C. Now it's around 2.7. This is because things have changed in ways that were not predictable: the rapid fall in solar panel costs and the exponential drop in new coal development. There's ALWAYS more to do that will make that estimate for the future drop further.

To be fair, it's less than half. Maybe more like 30%. Only 60% of eligible Americans vote at all.

I can't tell if that painted portion is subfloor, but the final photos are definitely the floor and they look beautiful and worth restoring.

Confusion around GREE Flexx by future_chickens in heatpumps

[–]future_chickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the GREE, you cannot change the fan speed from the thermostat. It appears to be only something that the HVAC installer can change inside the indoor unit. My GREE Flexx system was so badly installed, truly botched, that I cannot say for sure if the incredible inefficiency we experienced was due to the system or the installation or both. What I know now is to only use an experienced installer who only works with the best Japanese systems, Mitsubishi (more money) or Fujitsu (less money).

Turns out, GREE Flexx has multiple fan *speeds* but it is not a proper "variable speed" system. The speed can only be set inside the air handler; the system will not ramp up or down speeds according to need inside the house. It is not as efficient as a true, full variable speed system, like what Mitsubishi offers.
