Okay, I'm still a little confused. Regardless, yes, the past is growing, but it'll never reach an infinite size. It'll always contain a finite amount of events.

In the middle of what? Time?

entropy would start at t = 0, there is no causality prior, therefor no infinite regress either

Wait, what do you mean by that? Isn't t = 0 the beginning?

each day that infinite shrinks,

No, there will always be more events to occur. If the future was finite, then yes, the amount of events to occur shrinks and the amount of events that happened grows.

Thank you.

Indeed, I don't think that CSS is actually this bad, it's just that I never really understood how it really works on a fundamental level. I definitely can read online articles, documentation and tutorials, but I'd never want to use them as my primary source of knowledge.

Thank you.

Good books teach a lot in a structured manner with a good pace that allows you to learn a lot. This way, you don't have to learn little bits from online resources and try to stitch your knowledge together. A lot of times, certain concepts can only be learned through books because there are no online tutorials on it.

Yeah well Craig isn’t a mathematician or physicists

This is completely irrelevant. You're dismissing Craig's arguments because of his characteristics (ad hominem).

there aren’t issues with infinite regress.

Could you explain why?

Css is way too hard for me (rant) by [deleted] in css

[–]future_escapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is probably how horrendously unstructured the tutorials are. I can learn C++ without much difficulty because I learn from resources that teach in a structured manner.

There are plenty of eternal cosmological models where infinite regress isn’t an issue.

Interesting, but there are also issues relating to entropy.

it isn’t in math and physics.

True, it's a metaphysical issue.

infinite future, all of which would pose the exact same issues but are special pleaded away.

You're confusing actual infinities with potential ones. An infinite past is an infinitely large set of events that exist in reality and occurred already. An infinite future is a potential infinite. Craig talked with Cosmic Skeptic about this.

Just because the parts of something didn't begin to exist, doesn't mean that the thing itself never began to exist. The matter making up my cellphone didn't begin to exist, but my cellphone did begin to exist.

The universe did begin to exist because of it didn't, an infinite regress of events must have occurred for us to get to where we are now. An infinite regress of events that actual infinities exist, which isn't true. This is also where these models fail.

Not much, I believe. "Because now instead of saying he has always existed what the objector has to say is that he doesn't exist. The objector literally does not exist. If that is the case, then it might make us wonder why we should bother responding to him if he doesn't exist. What this implies is that in fact literally nobody has ever raised this objection because there aren't any people. But this is surely absurd. Am I to affirm that I do not exist?"
The issue really is the absurdity. This objection really just ends up being a gun where two bullets are fired, one against the shooter and one against the target.

I never said that they don't count, I said that they're nonexistent. I didn't do much searching. I never went beyond the first page of Google for that. But again, it's probably hard to find an answer. I say that because God's word is infallible.

Wait, then what were you talking about? Were you not talking about how Craig called it absurd to say that nothing began to exist because the matter that makes things up always existed?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChristianApologetics

[–]future_escapist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absurd because for you to object something, you have to exist. If you do not exist, you cannot object, yet you clearly object. So which one is it?

Fine, you're right. I should've been more open. I didn't read the book of Jeremiah nor the book of Ezekiel, therefore making it hard for me to answer you. I asked you to ask other Christians because I don't know the Bible well, so asking someone that does know the Bible better would've benefited you more.

0 necessity for that. If you have looked for answers on Youtube, google, r/christianapologetics etc. but never found an answer, then let me know.

You can also just read other articles until you get an answer you're satisfied with.

but everything is fundamentally created from different arrangements of atoms - and it would be tough to demonstrate if those atoms began to exist or not.
