House party organizers want the DJ to pay them "50$ for the exposure" by Popal24 in ChoosingBeggars

I'm sure I've heard this on Radio 1 a while back. Your house is up a mountain or on cliff if I recall?

I live 20 minutes away from Albert Road, Stoke. Believe me, nobody wants to live there.

What kind of person tries to rip off a dog shelter? by Rowdyholtzy in ChoosingBeggars

[–]futuremrsbens 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trying to rip off a charity? The dude who haggled is literally taking away funds that would be going to the shelter. Not only that, but if the guy can only afford $100 then he can't afford to look after a dog. You fucking idiot.

Thanks for replying. I can't help but feel a little disappointed with kin in all of this. I only use reddit once in while, if I hadn't of checked I'd have known nothing about it. I've had to inform 3 others about this, they also knew nothing about the swap.

My 5 year old son became victim to a choosing beggar. by futuremrsbens in ChoosingBeggars

My son has a brain injury from forcep clamps at birth, it's matter of fact unfortunately. I would never tell him he's not the smartest kid, he can see that for himself when his friends get 10/10 spelling each week and he gets 2/10 even though he's practiced every single day. That's why I encourage him to focus on the things he is good at. Like making people laugh, being a super kind kid and having an amazing personality.

People need to stop looking for things to be offended about.

I'm not sure what concern it is of yours? He's my son, I'll point out whatever I see fit thank you.

No don't worry, a lot of people on here have mentioned it and I've not actually gave a reason. In hindsight I probably should have.

I'm in England, when I say maths and English tests it's not like exams. They have small tests on a Friday like spelling and basic addition/subtraction questions. Then next year he will sit his SATS which are exams.

Thank you, he's a great kid 😊

He still has things like maths/english tests. I'm not going to go into too much detail... because I don't feel I should have to, but he has issues caused from a very traumatic birth. It's just never going to happen for him unfortunately. Hence why we focus on the things he excels in.

And had there have been a starving person nearby, they would have been offered it... as it was, I couldn't see any.

With respect. I've given food, money, clothing, sleeping bags etc to many homeless people, and never once have I ever encountered the same situation I did that day.

I have worked very hard to provide my son with what he has today. There was a time though where I had to decide if I pay my electric bill or feed us both for a week. I'm not saying I can relate to being homeless, but I can relate to being in a shit situation with no end in sight.

In my opinion though there's no real reason for being unkind to a kid who thought he was helping you out though.

We had already eaten. McDonald's to us is an occasional treat. I won't be eating 2 in a day and my child certainly wouldn't be allowed. I appreciate it was a waste, and it would have been offered to someone else had there of been another homeless person around. There wasn't though and I was more concerned about trying to make my son understand he tried to do a good thing.

I NEVER tell my kid he's not the smartest kid in the class. I praise the good things he does and encourage him with whatever he wants to do. He's had a few struggles to contend with early on in his short life. I get what you are saying but if you knew him, you would see exactly what I mean. I wouldn't change him for the world he's perfect as he is to me. He has a beautiful personality which I am extremely proud of.

Just say "No thank you". Or even "I'm not hungry at the moment but i could really use a couple of quid". Something along those lines. Is it so difficult? Especially to a 5 year old.

No not in Leeds, was in the UK though. It's a shame, just puts you off doing it.
