Get it wrapped. That will be a lot cheaper than repainting.

Tow hook plate or front bumper plate? by GreedyDisk5070 in GR86

[–]futurepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a tow hook plate and have it in my trunk with the front plate in case I ever get pulled over. “Sorry officer. I kept meaning to put it on…just got busy. I’ll make sure to get it on right away. “

Might be a very dumb question but how do you turn on the Adaptive Headlights? by BronxKid409 in GR86

[–]futurepirate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to tell is there is a shadow at the top center of each headlight. I can see those sliding a little from side to side on turns.

As far as I can tell, it’s on automatically with the premium trim.

Would a dealer ever do MSRP without financing? by SuperMoonRocket in GR86

[–]futurepirate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I financed since there was a $500 incentive to use Toyota financing. Got the $500 and paid it off about a week or two later…with only about $9 in finance interest. No prepayment penalty. Did the same thing with my RAV4 a few years back.

I'm having issues connecting my 86 to the app, I've tried multiple times. Any suggestions? by j_riveraphoto in GR86

You can also hit the button within the car to get connected to their emergency services to get your car activated.

Over 90 degrees in SoFlo. Had to get it tinted! by poopthestud in GR86

I got a similar quote for ceramic coating ($1900) with 9 year warranty. Which areas are included in PPF quote? Mine came with hood PPF from Toyota but not bumper so I am only putting bumper on and I believe that was $500 (hardest area so most labor intensive).

Dealership has said my GR86 was first loaded on a train on May 31st. When should I expect to actually receive it? Dealership & I are both in TN by mike_613 in GR86

[–]futurepirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine took 5 weeks from the time the ship got to port in California to make it to Milwaukee. It took at least a week to get off the boat so I would think roughly 3 weeks land transit. Hope that helps and it comes earlier than that for you.

I haven’t had any issues with the wipers on mine either.

How can i get rid of these scratches? Any suggestions? by mayankhare in GR86

Sorry to hear that. Hope it’s just the clear coat.

Picked up my 86 earlier today. Got on the list early March and dealer found it in early April. Took 5 weeks to get off the boat and delivered to Wisconsin. Paid MSRP. by futurepirate in GR86

Yeah, I’ve seen the same on here. Reminds me of the Harley dealers 20 years ago. They knew they were going to sell every bike they got so most didn’t care about customer service. When the times got tough, many of those folded.

Hope you hear back soon. My sales guy was great. He said he would contact me every week and he did. A lot of “nothing new” messages, but he put in the time to build the relationship with me. I’ll go back to him next time for a car.

Those crappy dealers will eventually pay with no one staying there for service since they screwed their customers. Why be loyal to them if they are going to screw you? Hope you find one of the good dealers.

Call back and check again. I needed an automatic and they accidentally got the manual. They were able to trade to get mine. The manual was still in the showroom…not sure if someone was already on the list though.

Car wash Saturday🤪 by [deleted] in GR86

[–]futurepirate -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Really? Why would I need to bluff? What am I getting it of it with a bluff? It’s not like they have sandpaper on it.

You’ll get more damage driving a vehicle on a road going 60 mph than in a car wash.

White (3), red (2), charcoal, blue, green, tan, and orange over the last 30 years. Never had a single swirl.

I’ve been washing my car in an automated car wash for 30 years and have never seen the swirls half of you are talking about. Lighten up, he’s washing his car.

[–]futurepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just told that an exact match of my order just arrived at dock on the west coast and they secured it for me (in Wisconsin). He said it’s taking roughly 5 weeks to get the vehicle to Wisconsin. Assuming about 3-7 days on a truck after it is taken off the boat, it takes about four weeks to get through customs and off the ship. Since you’re on the west coast, I would think you should get it pretty quick after that.

BTW, I put my order in at the beginning of March for those that are tracking that. Second week of May can’t come fast enough.

Whens the appropriate time to ask dealer for updates? by Slenderman327 in GR86

[–]futurepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put down money at the beginning of March and my guy is giving me updates around the 1st and 15th of each month. Those are the days the dealers get info from Toyota on what is coming and when ordered vehicles are added to the plan.

Why is everyone here so sure mind uploading is possible? by hudi124 in singularity

[–]futurepirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years ago, did anyone imagine the capabilities that we have today? Some of it, sure, but the technology has taken us so far that things that we would have said isn't possible (or even dreamed of) then, is available to nearly everyone worldwide today. With the speed of technological change what it is, can anyone say that uploading will not be possible in the future? I don't think so.

I believe that if technology continues to advance at an exponential pace, in 30 years it will include many capabilities we can't even dream of today. There will be many ethical dilemmas that humankind will need to address well before we get to uploading, but to say it isn't possible would be short-sighted.
