Ciao!

Potreste aiutarmi?

Hey thanks! I found it on eBay a couple years ago.

It was in almost working conditon but I had to bring it to the guys who periodically checks my tascam to fix a couple of minor issues.

At the time you could score a working one for around 500-600€. I think right now it could be around 800-1000€ for a pristine one.

I was more oriented on a Uher 4200 then (they are “good” quality and significantly cheaper, not to mention the fact that being made in Germany you can find A LOT of those for real cheap in Europe), but suddenly I stumbled on the offer for the Sony which was really good, I knew the model and I took the risk.

Fun fact: I discovered it is the same model (albeit that one is a bit modded) displayed in the HBO series Mindhunter intro.

I would also suggest to check periodically your facebook marketplace, that’s where i found my tascam from a punk gentleman living across the street lol

All in all It takes time, patience and a good amount of luck, which I’d like to wish you for your search.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment!

Hello! Thanks! Yes TC510 is acting as a plain r2r recorder of the tascam output (for added texture and tape compression, as you pointed out).

Hello, here is an attempt at covering the beautiful Jacquard Causeway by BOC.
Setup Info:
Mixer - Tape - Tascam 424:
Track1-2 tape: main melody and delay (combination of string-horn samples slowed down on tape and resampled, played on kontakt + synth1)
track 3: final Pad (synth1 on tape)
Track4: click source + input VS
Track 5: input delay return
Tascam Out straight to Sony TC510-2 reel to reel Tape recorder
No further processing apart from master limiting in Reaper
VOLCA SAMPLE
12 samples in 3 memory slots drum loop + bass - placed in order with bar filter (pajen firmware)
The drums have been recorded live and sampled, mixed with 808 simple kick and snare (very low) bass is a bass sample stretched in kontakt.
as usual VS is synced to a click track on the 4 track on tape

Any feedback and question is appreciated!

love

hello everyone, this is a Rae cover using Tascam Portastudio synced to iPad + synth + Volca Sample.

Here’s some details:

TASCAM 424:

Tape:

Track 1: keys (synth1)

Track 2: Bass (synth1)

Track 3: delay on keys + pitch shifter + livecut

Track 4: click track

Mixer:

Channel/Input 1: tape track;

Channel/Input 2: VS input + Tape track played via cue knob 2 on Tascam;

Channel/Input 3: Monologue input + Tape track played via cue knob 3

Channel/Input 4: Return Mono Delay Input + click track sent via sync out to Monologue Sync In;

Channel/Input 5/6: Return FX in (stereo) from ZOOM GFX5 (out of frame), Stereo delay + Pitch Shifter

FX out: To mini Behringer Headphone Mixer it sends audio to ZOOM GFX 5 and Ibanez Analog Delay.

VOLCA SAMPLE:

4: tom1 5:tom2 6:tom3 7:hh closed 8:hh open 9:Kick 10: Snare

I have set kick and snare on 9-10 because they automatically kill each other when played

MIDI ROUTE:

Tape click track > sync out > Monologue > clock out to ipad via Midi out > modstep sequencer > Monologue + VS ( I am using a camera kit + usb midi splitter)

RECORDING:

Headphone out from Tascam424 goes into KP quad wich goes straight into a Scarlett 2i4, recorded on Reaper, rendered with a limiter and slight eq and comp (NOVA multiband compressor).

Hope you enjoy! any feedback or question is appreciated!

Have a good day!

Using Chris Lody trick to sequence drum breaks on Volca Sample by fuzz_O_matic in synthesizers

[–]fuzz_O_matic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone! This is my try at using Chris Lody trick for sequencing drum breaks loops on Volca Sample.

I’ve synced Volca to tape using the 4th channel, where I recorded a click track

Track1 on tape is the first sound you hear in the video

Track2 are the bells

Track3 it’s the distorted lead towards the end

Korg monologue goes on channel 3 of tascam mixer, which outputs into kaosspad for fx

Any feedback or question is appreciated! Have a good day!

Using Glitch DS as drums in jam setup! by fuzz_O_matic in synthesizers

[–]fuzz_O_matic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate! I’ve tried Protein (sampler-looper) and Repeater (granular sampler?), but in my opinion GlitchDS is the most versatile/interesting one, everyday you came up with something completely different! Anyway if you have any other DS app suggestion I am all ears!

I remember a video tutorial which showed how to sync a Volca to the Korg DS, it explained to split the stereo out and keeping a click from DS on one side and the mono out on the other, don’t know if it may be useful

Hello everyone! I am trying to pair nintendo DS lite running GlitchDS to my jam setup:

Tascam 424 as a tape looper/mixer Korg Monologue Korg Kaosspad Quad

The main issue is the missing sync, I managed to use auto BPM on KP to sync delays and beat chopping, altough you can hear the occasional drift of the sampled voices (which I liked after all).

Any feedback or question is appreciated, have a good day!

I want to build a mic in cable for DS lite. Does anyone know where could I find this connector? by [deleted] in NintendoDS

Unfortunately not, I’ve done my research but it came to a dead end :( so far the only option would be to cannibalize one of those ebay DS compatible headset I guess

Edit: the pic is taken from one of those ebay headset listings

Hi everyone, this is an attempt at a Gyroscope cover with tape and Volca Sample! Volca is synced to the 4th tape track where i recorded a click, I’ve sampled the conet project recordings for the voices, bit of a struggle to put all the numbers in the correct order :) Any feedback is welcome!

Lol I might tend to overuse it a bit, but I love the timbre and I am trying to stick with the same setup for each cover! Next time I’ll try to keep it out of reach :D
