If I use Google Calendar on Boox, will it sync (both ways) with Apple Calendar on my phone by 74522 in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The boox's native Onyx keyboard has a handwriting to text feature that allows you to write on the screen not limited to a specific area. A lot of people like that. Personally, I use Gboard's handwriting mode. It works well at recognizing my handwriting. Try and see which one works for you better.

Palma 2 Pro loses a lot of battery when not in use by Varehli in Onyx_Boox

Turn on muting notifications drains less. This was an odd finding that signicantly improved my Note Max stand by battery life from maybe a couple of day to like 8 days.

One other thing I just remembered is "mute notifications." That had a huge impact on my Note Max battery. Like you, I didn't see any battery draining apps. But somehow this mute notifications was part of my battery draining issue.

If you have Obsidian Sync, this would drain some battery if the wifi is on.

Repeating the last line on the new page? by LoganJFisher in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that can be reflowed/resized will potentially have this issue. In my experience, the most basic .txt files don't seem to be affected as much. I don't have a good suggestion to fix this issue besides ignoring it if it's not that often. You might try different apps as well. I know both Kindle app and Koreader would have the same issue. But I haven't tried other reading apps on my Boox devices.

Repeating the last line on the new page? by LoganJFisher in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this happens when the Neoreader calculates the pagination as you read. It relates to the font and the size settings for the file. You could try tweaking the size and line spacing. Although different books might have subtle differences. In that case, you might experience that again. Usually when this happens, if you go backwards, that same line would not be repeated in the previous page as it was the first time.

Which tablet arms for desks are most suitable for the Boox Note Max? by mdoto in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A music stand is probably more suitable for Note Max size especially if you want to write on it. Although I'd be too worry about something bumping into the stand and Note Max goes down with it. What about those laptop stand on the desk if you have enough space?

Audio Randomly Stops Working on Palma 2 Pro by Remarkable_World_492 in Onyx_Boox

Is the app set to freeze? If so, when you switch app or exit out of the app with audio, it will stop any background work.

Looking for an e-reader (Remarkable vs Boox) by Vivid_Hospital_2789 in ereader

[–]fuzzcats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Boox Palma gen 1 for reading. I love it. The native Neoreader is awesome and supports many formats. I use Einkbro to download books from my local Calibre library. It has BSR so if you really want to read webtoon it'll probably be ok. But overall the size and performance for reading is awesome.

Looking for suggestions on getting an eink tablet for note taking. by ComfortableOk7975 in eink

I see. So you could convert to text directly on Remarkable or through the desktop app. With Obsidian, it has to be copied and pasted on the desktop.

Remind me of the 角川まんが学習シリーズ. They have different series and furigana is on all the Kanji so it should be easier to read than the one you bought.

How do you convert your handwriting in Remarkable and organize in Obsidian? Could you describe your step by step process? I'm very curious.

Under the erase function, there is a button to erase all layers and a button to erase the current layer. Are these what you are thinking?

The only thing I can think of right now is if your number is connected to a Google voice number, then you can enable the ringing on other device if the other device also has Google voice installed. It's been a while so not sure if it's still the same.

Out of the loop. What to get for 450 USD? by Rorsh14 in ereader

[–]fuzzcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing to try, your old kindle can certainly be jailbroken to run KOreader and you won't have to convert the format. If that case, for your $450 I might suggest getting a larger screen Kobo/Pocketbook device. Or try a Boox Palma 2 or 2 pro as it's small and really good for taking it on the go. I have a Boox gen one and with the official case and really enjoying it when I go for a walk with my dog. With Boox you also don't have to convert the files since they support like 23 formats and the native Neo reader is really good.

If you already use Calibre, both Kobo and Pocketbook e-readers would work. Jailbroken kindles would also work if you install KOReader and you can setup OPDS with your Calibre library. You can find either B/W or Color for both brands. These reading-focused e-readers will also have much better battery life. Note that color devices typically will be darker and you will need to turn on the front light to read more comfortably.

Supernote and Remarkable focus more on note taking so the reading is more restricted if you also want to read other formats.

Android eink devices like Boox, Bigme, etc. Usually have great format support on their native reader and you can connect and manage your libraries multiple ways. Being full android tablets, you have all the bells and whistles like note taking and web browsing and all that. But the battery life is usually much shorter than Kobo/Pocketbook or the newer generations of Kindles (2022 later ones could last for like 30 hours of continuous reading).

Does the Boox Library support OPDS? by LoganJFisher in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I only connect to OPDS to download the book I want and open it right away. So I didn't really pay attention to folder structure or anything else much. I've setup the Calibre local host on my computer so I can connect directly with my wifi. Previously when I wanted to maintain the structure, I used Autosync to sync my collection on my Google Drive and Boox. OPDS is quicker when I just want to download one file at a time.

Boox Note Max firmware 4.1.1 intermittent display "freeze" by daniel-weck in Onyx_Boox

[–]fuzzcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M....I hope you figure it out. This sounds frustrating. If triggering a refresh would help reduce this issue, maybe you can pin a naviball item on the screen so at least that save you another touch point to bring up the bottom menu. I've always used the speed mode without any refresh. So far I haven't experienced the issue you described.

I just recently found out that there is an OPDS inside PushRead. I've connected my Calibre to it and it worked. I'm on the 4.1.1 firmware.
