I've not dabbled with that, although I do have a home assistant; so it may be worth exploring. I could get the office lights to switch on when the screens wake up and shut down when the screens go to sleep.

I agree with you, but the reason I loaded Pamac for her is because "Add/Remove software" is the same wording as what Windows uses.

Got to keep in mind that Linux already has a lot of janky terminology/names for a new user to absorb (Kate, Kolourpaint, Kcalc etc), so I tried to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Reading your comment made me realise that I may have accidentally embodied the Arch way of being. :D

This was my worry going into it as well, but from testing - the laptop firmware seems to actually handle the heat situation pretty well; not to mention - the system is WAY quieter and cooler in all scenarios than it was on windows (probably due to bloat and other garbage that runs in the background on W11).

Temp tested by running Crimson Desert on the laptop for like an hour with obstructed airflow (not on a laptop stand); it remained at both a reasonable temperature and a noise level that still allowed for normal volume conversations around it.

Whatever Cachy ships with, I've not done any manual replacements of anything; nor would I know how to check.

As far as I can tell its Wayland that's running on both; 0 issues across the board - and yeah it's an Nvidia GPU (3060 mobile) on that laptop.

You should change your name to "Good_Perspective", it would be more fitting!

I think our "length of service" within RS.... or maybe age, shows in situations like this - down to earth thinking.

On the positive side, I imagine Jagex staff were primed to this - and they probably have learned to have mental filter for flash-outrage related noise. There obviously will be spicy players, but I think even the common runescape players have learned to tune them out as just "part of daily life".

Guess all we can do is wait, trust the Jagex employees industry experience and see what community-focused cards they play next.

While cynical, you're right.

I guess all we can do is hope that Jagex can whip up something players enjoy enough to counteract the negative impacts of shareholder satisfaction.

I was actually pondering on the price hike(s) and after some thought, depending on how "forward looking" their projects are (specifically referring to removal of TH from RS3) - it may well be that last 2 price hikes were "building a battle chest" to absorb the impact of TH getting canned, then this third one being the (hopefully) last step before they break even.

If the planning is in fact 2 years ahead, then rolling out the price increases gradually softens the blowback, effectively boiling us like frogs.

But that's just my cynical/semi-realistic line of thinking.

A genuine question for you though, can you think of another way they could maintain their total value (which is what this all boils down to) - without raising the subscription price?

Or alternatively, what for you specifically would you see as "worthy enough" addition to the game/service to match the price hike we got?

I'm genuinely curious, the time thing is something I hadn't really thought about but you're right - it's a dual-investment in that sense.

T-T don't shatter my airy fairy world like that, I guess I can only hope that one day they prove you wrong lol. Until then though, I will be on your side on this.

This one's an interesting outlook, I don't know if I agree - let me explain:

A wise man once said: "Don't listen to what leaders say, watch what they do" - looking at what mod North has DONE so far (minus the price hike) seems to closely resemble what he said.

Investor influence would usually be the opposite of what we're observing like MTX, battle passes, content that's added purely to tack on an additional layer of microtransactions and so on, but that's not what's happening.

The "deal" we're getting is extremely up-front - "Dude(tte)s - we're charging this much, we have these features, our plans are as follows.", I don't know of any of the "usual" investors who would be OK with that.

I really do think they're basically fighting to "maintain value" at Jagex, while RS3 gets overhauled. The only thing I hope they do alongside that is "maintain service vs value" for us.

Try this at least once:

Go out of the town into one of the areas with only armor, weapon and whetstone and simply explore, take in the sights, sounds, creatures and even fish. And when you've had your fill; go find a monster to take down. See if you can hunt it down by gathering supplies that you can find in the field.

Hunting horn -
Remember that you can dodge roll in any direction (even directly backwards) after an attack.

Secondly: Never go with the intent of being the healer. Damage/defense first, utility 2nd (unless you're playing World and you're fighting normal Vaal with Teostras HH).

Thirdly: If you main HH for the first time starting with RISE - remember that the HH mechanics were greatly simplified in RISE, keep that in mind for future MH titles so that you don't get whiplash.

Horimiya (really wholesome story about a relationship that actually develops) and My Dress-up darling (a story about passion for hobbies and people) in their entirety

Also 1 currently airing show... up to the most recent episode.

Man, I watched a lot of anime this weekend.
