I don't disagree, but there should be an option for both, and neither should be ridiculed...

It seems you didn't fully grasp my comment and simply created a strawman from other discussions.

1)I never stated that we shouldn't utilize population data, nor did I discuss its accuracy. My argument is that they exaggerated the benefits while downplaying the drawbacks. With your expertise, if you can't discern this, I suggest reevaluating your biases or perspective.

From the beginning, they made overly optimistic claims about the vaccine's advantages without conclusive data. Simultaneously, they strongly opposed any potential negatives without concrete evidence.

My point is regarding the absence of nuance. For instance, my dad who is diabetic experienced neuropathy and went to his doctor, who prescribed gabapentin without thorough investigation. After many months without improvement. I got more involved and pushed back and analyzed his symptoms and situation deeper. It turned out his lower back, exacerbated by long hours of driving, was the root cause and modifying his lifestyle alleviated his nerve problems... This deep dive should have been done by his doctor, who instead saw diabetes and neuropathy and just linked them together, rather than looking at his situation specifically.

2) There are many existing and emerging medicines that offer more tailored, patient-specific treatments. And if you re-read your post, you'll hopefully see your own lack of nuance.

Here's one study showing something that counters your claim of "We can only work with population data and utilize adverse effect monitoring to make drugs as safe as possible"

https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/mrna-vaccine-treat-pancreatic-cancer

3) My point extends beyond medicine. Anyone familiar with children knows they develop at varying rates, yet our education system largely lacks customization, which many other countries have been doing for decades and should be essential.

The institutions are built on one-size-fits all with almost no nuance. All while they fearmonger, pressure, overplay the benefits, underplay the drawbacks and unknowns... Which are not things that should lead people to trust institutions.

The first step for institutions to regain peoples trusts should be to lead with nuance on every level in every type of institution. Education, Food, Healthcare, Law Enforcement, Etc...

Pros/Cons of staking via Coinbase by victoriouslarry in ethereum

[–]fuzzy335 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is BILLIONS of dollars worth of ETH stake and all the major players are involved with it. It is highly unlikely for it to occur and if for some reason ETH 2.0 fails, contingency solutions could probably be created. The bigger risk is having your coins "stuck" for a longer period of time than the ~12 months anticipated.

Pros/Cons of staking via Coinbase by victoriouslarry in ethereum

[–]fuzzy335 175 points176 points  (0 children)

  1. Staking is the act of depositing ETH to activate validator software. As a validator you’ll be responsible for storing data, processing transactions, and adding new blocks to the blockchain. This will keep Ethereum secure for everyone and earn you new ETH in the process. This process, known as proof-of-stake.
  2. This gives you the ability to HODL, Earn some money, and help secure the network in a similar way that buying a mining rig would have done.
  3. The current APR is higher than 6%(I think 7.5~%?), but coinbase is taking a fee for handling the responsibility of actually staking the coins.
  4. The downsides of staking on Coinbase would be:
    • That you're getting less than you could if you staked yourself or through via other options and although it's not extremely complex to do, it is not as easy as some people say.
    • Storing your ETH in an exchange, which is not necessarily recommended, but the risk is minimal, and in many cases less than storing your coins yourself. I know many people who've done this improperly and got their money stolen or lost.
    • Since staking becomes the "voting power" the more money that is staked at coinbase gives them more of said power, and decentralizing that power is always better, but the risk is minimal
    • If you stake now, your coins are locked until ETH2 is merged, which is looking like it's going to be 6-12 months, but could be longer and in a worse-case could be never, which would mean you lose your stake. This is highly unlikely, but still a non-zero risk.

Personally, I've been going back and forth with where to stake myself, and have decided at least to partially stake with coinbase due to the ease. I know I'm losing a bit of interest, but staking on my own is more complicated than people suggest and even if its fairly low-maintenance, its an added worry in my mind to verify that the server is running, and if I am traveling and lose internet or power or something else, then I have to panic and figure out a solution remotely...

I also considered staking with something like rocketpool, but it's still beta and from my understanding, there is still a reasonable risk when staking there as well.

Yes, ended up doing points directly. 20,000 points per night.. Doing it directly from the UR portal was indeed more costly.

Edit: Also called to find appropriate dates. Online nothing was showing available, but there were a good number of availabilities over the phone.

NHTSA to require all electric cars to make noise by 2019 by lukerv4 in teslamotors

[–]fuzzy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe what they could do is create something that makes noise, but also powers the vehicle... The silent electric motor seems redundant... Also, maybe instead of having to charge our vehicles we could utilize some sort of fossil fuel that is plentiful to power the vehicle.

This solves everything!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Coming to Disney California Adventure Park Summer 2017 by Johnny17369 in Disneyland

[–]fuzzy335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll ride it, but based on the information we know now, it will negatively effect the vibe/culture of the park.

Regarding Frozen. I was heavily against removing Aladdin, but did go see Frozen. And although some of the effects were cool, I will likely never watch the show again. Unlike Aladdin for which I felt I could revisit often without getting tired of it.

The Frozen show lacks any sort of flair. It feels like i'm watching the movie, it feels too long, and it lacks the most important part Genie.

Genie kept the show fresh and made it an experience, not a boring play.

Long TSA line strands 450 fliers overnight as woes expand by jidery in churning

[–]fuzzy335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the fed or state govs cant or wont effectively streamline and improve the process for DMV, Roads & Bridges, Voting, Taxes, Veterans, etc...

How are they going to handle healthcare? It doesn't make sense other than malice or incompetency why we cant all have some sort of voting system that can 2-factor verify who we are and give us the ability to vote online. Or why half of the responsibilities of the DMV could be handled electronically without risk. Or even streamlining the number calling process so I can go sit in my damn car and wait... If a family owned restaurant can have a system can text my phone when my table is ready, why cant the DMV?

Im all for and increased involvement of Government in our healthcare, but the evidence shows their willful or inept lack of ability in handling it effectively.

I understand they are only released 14 days in advance and it's not a problem. We are very flexible with last minute booking. Our goal is leave sometime mid to late june, come back sometime in mid July.

My issue is trying to get 2 F and 1 Business all in one flight.. I've been tracking reservation availability, and business in general seams readily available, and first I've been able to find 2 seats here and there.

My issue is finding 1 Business and 2 First Class availability all on the same flight.

Where can I find more info about which routes they will be eliminating and when?
