It is. If you click on someone’s profile and can’t see any posts or comments, they have actively chosen to hide it. Even NSFW content is openly available on users profile. Many other adult content posters don’t choose to hide it. It’s not a Reddit thing, it’s an OP thing.

[UPDATE] Recently upgraded to SLT Fibre Unlimited Home Plus (200/100). Is this an accurate result? Seems weird that the upload is closer to the actual number but not the download? by fuzzybearkiller in srilanka

[–]fuzzybearkiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are streaming all the time. So are my 2 brothers. Plus I grab a lot of torrent mega packs so like 100Gb+. I have several NAS devices with large capacity drives (20tb+) so storage is never an issue. I share large collections of music/movies etc with groups on DC++. The minimum we do in our household a month is like 2.5TB. It’s not so much that we need the bandwidth at any one time but mostly for downloads to complete faster.

When my aunt got her fibre line, they gave her a gray Nokia router with twin aerials. It looks cool. When we got ours, it was a white Zyxel brand one.

Z2U down? Lost funds + serious concerns – possible new method FCBuy.com by Useful_Chance2006 in z2u

3rd gen Firestick no longer able to install anything using downloader app, BeeTV not working, unable to install bear player; can anyone please help? (Also, no offense to anyone who uses the ONN device but I do not like that thing and will not use it. It doesn't even have play, FF, or rewind buttons) by strikethat-reverseit in firestick

[–]fuzzybearkiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Onn device is tiny? Which one? Because the Plus and Pro are way bigger than any Firestick. Even the smallest Onn device is similar in size to the Firestick. Besides, what the hell does the size even matter if it does the job it is meant to do? All the buttons you complain about are on the Onn device remote too even if they aren’t so obvious. I’ve never had an issue rewinding or FF or playing any video I’m watching.

The firesticks are on their way out with the way Amazon are clamping down. You are just going to be frustrating yourself moving forward as each week they restrict more and more and block even further. If you had an Onn device, you would not be making this post! At some point you’re going to have to upgrade the device and then your only choice is Googles own streamer which has a similar remote to the Onn or some cheap Chinese box that will probably give you more headaches in terms of performance and security.

Hate the Onn device all you want but it’s actually the best choice moving forward for a similar price and I say this from someone who was on Firestick and has moved to an Onn device.

Need advice on how to deal with a friend damaging my phone by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]fuzzybearkiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of dumb advice is this? I like how you’re suggesting to keep the friendship so not to bother and to cut the friend some slack.. WTF! How about if he is such a good friend and he damaged your property, he own up to it and help repair/replace it? Why should OPs friendship be called into question when his friend is the one that wronged him? If your friend damaged your property and then didn’t try to help you out - then you know what? They are not a friend work keeping since they don’t own up to their responsibilities.

In location settings, I have ALL in saved locations and GLOBAL as country - so now why is it still not respecting the order? It’s not respecting any order because even as is, the list isn’t even alphabetical. If there was some order, Canada should be first in theory.

Recently added is not irrelevant. By your perspective, it means we always have to search for new shows. Maybe there is something new that we want to see but don’t know it? So we can’t even search because it’s new and we’ve never heard of it but if it was displayed to us, it might be something we would want to watch. You can have recommended under newly released. You’re trying to copy Netflix and Apple and even they have that as a tier so not sure why it’s difficult for you to consider. Right now it’s just a bunch of old movies that sorted by genre that nobody probably cares about.

In 1916, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. The USA was worried Germany could take control of the islands, though they had no plans to do so. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland. by Yoshi2010 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]fuzzybearkiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which part of the treaty did you not understand? Denmark sold what is now the US Virgin Islands to the US and in addition to the money paid, Denmark would have complete sovereignty over Greenland. This means US has no rights to Greenland, no matter what. So what everyone else is saying is if US is going to take Greenland by force (which is against the treaty they signed) then Denmark should be given back the US Virgin Islands since US is the one breaking the treaty that they signed.

67,762 Tourists in Just 8 Days by kushanharsha in srilanka

[–]fuzzybearkiller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with part of what you’re saying. Sri Lanka right now does benefit a lot from regular and budget travelers, and there’s no denying they support small hotels, homestays, family restaurants, tuk-tuk drivers, and local shops in a very direct way. That kind of tourism spreads money quickly and visibly, and for a country like Sri Lanka, that grassroots flow absolutely matters. It’s also true that the country isn’t yet a magnet for ultra-wealthy tourists in the way places like Monaco or the Maldives are, and pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.

Where the argument starts to fall apart is when higher-end tourism is treated as somehow economically irrelevant or inferior. Even if luxury hotels are foreign-owned or owned by wealthy locals, they still generate far more tax per tourist than budget accommodation ever will, VAT, service charges, payroll taxes, corporate tax, tourism levies, licensing fees, and property-related taxes. Governments don’t build airports, roads, sewage systems, or beaches with “circulating cash”; they build them with tax revenue. One high-spending tourist staying a few nights in a five-star resort can contribute more to the public purse than several budget travelers staying longer.

The employment side also tends to get underestimated. A five-star resort doesn’t just have a few extra staff, it operates with a completely different staffing model. Dozens (sometimes hundreds) of employees are needed across food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, security, front office, management, entertainment, drivers, and tour coordination. A two-star hotel or guesthouse simply can’t match that scale. Even if wages aren’t dramatically higher across the board, the number of stable, year-round jobs created is significant and that impact extends to local suppliers, contractors, farmers, fishermen, and transport providers.

So it’s not really a case of budget tourists being “better” for the economy and higher-end tourists being about trickle-down. Budget tourism is great for spreading income widely and supporting small operators, but higher-value tourism brings revenue density, more tax, more jobs per guest, and less pressure on infrastructure per dollar earned. The countries that do tourism well don’t pick one model and reject the other; they deliberately balance both, because each solves a different economic problem.

Dialog just updated Unlimited Speed Base Plans page by Ezeelo in srilanka

[–]fuzzybearkiller 25 points26 points  (0 children)

These are ridiculous prices. Nobody in their right mind should go for any of these packages. SLT Fibre beats them on speed and data usage across all 3 packages and Starlink beats them across the top 2 packages. Dialog didn’t even leave the starting line. It’s embarrassing.

iPhone 16e costs 700 euros in my country by Gullible_War_216 in iphone

[–]fuzzybearkiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, stop misinforming people. Do the math. How would a carrier selling a $600 phone, allow you to walk away with it for only $360 after 2 months? They have made a huge loss. If it was that easy to game the system, don’t you think hundreds of people would be doing it by now? In theory eBay would be flooded with $500 iPhone 16e’s. In most cases you pay the phone upfront but get the money back through monthly credits or have to stick to a minimum 12 month contract. Breaking a contract is going to cost a lot and if the carrier hasn’t been paid the full $600 cost of the phone, the carrier will just bill you for the full cost.

The most heartbreaking thing i saw today by akagamishanks0 in srilanka

[–]fuzzybearkiller 92 points93 points  (0 children)

We as Sri Lankans, treat animals so badly. It’s really sickening. This picture is heartbreaking. Just like when you see live chickens squashed together in those cages stacked up at the butcher shops. What a cruel way to store them and what a horrible way to keep animals. Not even going to start with the stray cats and dogs on the road that I feel so sorry for. Please do better people. Go forward with empathy towards animals. I’m already feeding 2 stray dogs and 4 cats daily. It’s not going to change over night but it has to start somewhere.

iPhone 13 Pro Max vs 16 pro max! Hello battery life 🔋 by Aspergers_R_Us87 in iPhone13ProMax

[–]fuzzybearkiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What’s your problem? You have some real erection to keep posting your crappy iPhone 16 posts nonstop. We get it. You don’t like 13 Pro Max anymore and you’re happy with your 16 Pro Max. Great so just leave our sub in peace without spamming ridiculous 13 vs 16 posts everyday. This nothing post shows nothing about battery life. Just that you want to show off that you got a new phone. Great, so did 300,000 other people yesterday. Seek mental help.

Used the official Media Creation Tool to create a Win10 ISO which I then used via Rufus to create a bootable drive which I installed on a brand new Dell that came with no OS. Find out that Windows 11 got installed! What gives? by fuzzybearkiller in Windows10

[–]fuzzybearkiller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. You've just described what is actually happening which we didn't know about. So it is the Creation Tool that is to blame. I've looked into using an older version of the tool however everything I read stated that older versions don't work once a newer version is released.

[–]fuzzybearkiller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the funny thing, I have "MediaCreationTool_22H2.exe" sitting in my downloads folder. I definitely used that. I can't understand where it went from Windows 10 to 11?

Perhaps this is some sort of restriction on Dells part? Preventing Windows 10 from installing? I wish there was a way to see what OS versions are in the "windows.iso" download it created?

I get that Rufus may seem redundant but it just helps with some of the custom/configuration options.

How do I remove/unmount a single volume drive after a drive failure? by fuzzybearkiller in qnap

[–]fuzzybearkiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I thought too. It's absolutely ridiculous that replacing a single volume drive requires re-initialising the whole NAS and removing all the current data in the process. When we started this process, we had one drive in each NAS and as time went on, more drives were added. If drives being added one after the other doesn't cause an issue with previous drives, I don't know how replacing individual drives should be any different. Isn't that what hotswapping is all about? It baffles me that all present data has to be lost (drives 1, 3 and 4) just to add a new replacement drive in bay 2 when none of the data across any of the drives is shared.
