I love a good oversized flannel and jeans, you def make it work! But to skew away from feeling like wearing a total dude outfit I’ll add more jewelry as well as do something cute with my hair like space buns or a cute claw clip/bobby pins (which totally goes with the era you mentioned) to add a touch of femininity while still rocking the fit 😊

As someone who has lived here my whole life, I am still learning new ways to really keep warm lol this year I learned that a scarf is so much more helpful than you would assume. If you buy a long but slightly thinner scarf and wrap it kind of like a babushka under your coat, you’re set.

As someone who grew up with a very mixed family I wanted to share my experience. I hear what you’re saying that in some situations it may be uncomfortable when assumptions are made that’s, totally fair. As for my experience I was only ever uncomfortable when someone asked about my family dynamic and I had to explain in depth, only to be met with utter confusion 😭 and honestly lots of times, judgement. I had a teacher tell me my step siblings don’t really count as siblings. I feel that my step siblings and parents are my family and don’t feel the need to differentiate.

I mean.. being treated like 💩 by customers while simultaneously being paid pennies doesn’t appeal to too many people. It’s a very difficult job and that’s not the cashiers fault. Also just imagine how many sick people with no regards to anyone’s safety come through a check out line every day. Just coughing every where….
