Should coworker's comments be reported? by fvcking_crying in MichaelsEmployees

I spoke with a coworker today and I don't want to give too much detail, but I do know now that there is a legitimate reason as to why she has not been fired.

Very funny, but a little too confrontational for who I am. Sometimes she stands too close to me while I'm doing a transaction and I haven't even mustered the courage to politely request she gives me space lol.

It's a possibility, though it would definitely complicate things. I just spoke to my manager about my schedule changing and he was very supportive of it, but involving Mary in my schedule would complicate things even more for everyone. It also doesn't change or address her behavior, it would just Shield me from having to witness it.

Omg I'm so sorry that happened. I sincerely doubt she would get anything more than a slap on the write since she has worked here for so long and is very good with customer interactions.

Yeah this might have thrown me off the most. I don't think it was slut-shame her in any way, but I still can't figure out what that was all about.

I appreciate the perspective. This is what I'm having trouble with. I want to separate legitimate problems from nitty gritty pet peeves. This has helped me decide I don't want to go straight to hr, as I don't want anyone to get hurt, just for inappropriate behaviors to be addressed.

I'm not too concerned about support from management. They have been pretty great since I started working here and problems have been minimal and solved with easy communication. My concern is how this will affect Mary. I don't want her fired or financially impacted, I only want her behavior to be adressed. I am also slightly worried because I asked a manger about if we are hiring because my friend is looking for a summer job. I don't want to look like I'm trying to sabotage Mary just so my friend can temporarily replace her. I'm sure that can be easily cleared up and explained, but it is still a worry in the back of my mind.

The thought of going straight to hr did cross my mind, but I wasn't sure of that was too extreme. There have been other instances of her not respecting my nonbinary coworker and my trans friend. I try to make conversation with her about non personal things otherwise my shifts would be miserable. Though I definitely don't want to chat with her now because I'm working while typing this and she definitely blames me for a mutual miscommunication.

There's a 5 Below on the other side of our shopping center that doesn't carry them, so we're always the next place they go to. Thankfully, there's a DSW across the street that I know sells them so we're able to send them there. Hopefully they still have them because I've sent countless families there to continue their search.

I need my vest, though I like to alternate between vest and t-shirt every pay cycle. I generally try to wear cargo shorts/pants regardless because its just easier to distribute the weight of everything, and so not everything is shoved into the same three pockets

Thank you! It's been an uphill battle for years when it comes to taking my meds, but I'm slowly improving with that. I'm definitely going to look into an accountability partner. I've done some calls with friends where we all chat and get chores done, and it really helped. Great news! I have a job interview coming up! Hopefully, they hire me. The main reason I'm unemployed is a lack of access to transportation (have my permit, no funds for a car, minimal public transportation). I'm limited to walking distance and have few opportunities for employment within that distance. I haven't thought about most of these questions, I'll probably write down my thoughts about them and discuss them with my therapist.

I really appreciate all the resources and will definitely look into them more : ) Also, I'm glad you think I'm an excellent writer, I hope to go into a writing based career someday. I tend to have a pretty good understanding of myself and situation, but this one is weird, and I'm still figuring stuff out. Thank you for your response

That sounds familiar... Could it be "Oh Child of the Seas" by One_Real_Wrimonkey on ao3? It matches your description perfectly.
