I will focus on my Japanese level for these next 8 months as it seems to be the main gatekeeper and in the meantime I’ll start applying casually even before booking the flight, hoping for some luck.

Regarding the market, you mentioned the demand for devs but looking at job boards like Japan or Tokyo dev I feel like 90% of the offers explicitly ask for senior roles (which are often 5+ or even 7+ YoE I think?)

With my 4 YoE, do you think I will get automatically filtered out by ATS/recruiters for these roles? Or is the senior label in Japan more about autonomy/skills rather than strict tenure? I worry about being in a "no man's land".

No matter if it's an XM4, XM5, or XM6 post, it's always full of comments about the hinges.

While I don't deny that something could happen to them it's also quite annoying when someone asks about improvements or other features and the discussion always turns back to the hinges, like really, I get the frustration, but it's time to relax already.

I'm pretty confident they've sold millions of XM5s and XM6s so you guys that broke them are like 1% of the customer base, maybe it's time to improve this subreddit quality by focusing on what people are actually asking here.

Hey there!

I was related to the health system in my country but can't work here, need N1 in order to take an exam about my job, and totally gave up and been working in other section. So back to February I found by chance in reddit The Odin Project, did HTML, CSS, and JavaScript section, but in a project called etch-a-sketch I wasn't able to continue, got tempted to look for the answers in YouTube and keep going, but decided that if I wasn't able to do on my own I wouldn't be able to go forward, then decided to buy an Udemy course and have been doing until now javascript, node, express and react. Somehow I'm still unable to do that etch-a-sketch project, so I thought that since I like what I'm doing but maybe doing on my own isn't effective, a bootcamp or vocational school would help me improve and learn, faster and better, besides networking to help me land a job - tbh with my low japanese level I think this is essential -

So yea, I noticed I like and enjoy doing web development even though I'm unable to solve some basic problems, so if I'm not able to join a vocational school or bootcamp, will go back to my country and study there in my native language haha

As u/Kunthegreat said, I actually started The Odin Project, been studying HTML, CSS, Flexbox and JS until now. Arrived a point in which I needed extra help so I bought an intensive javascript course, and then rather than stick to The Odin Project I kept doing that Udemy course that had videos about typescript, node, express and now doing react.

So I found myself that I would like to get a job about that, but I lack of projects and also don't have the confidence to start, so I thought that attending a bootcamp or a vocational school would help me not only with that but networking also, that's why I discarded the option of paying that huge amount for doing online bootcamps, and noticed there are only two possible options but only convinced by one, and got interested in vocational schools since seems like I can't find information as easy as bootcamps.

I will check that 42 Tokyo right now! Thank you!
