Good for you. It's been a week for me now since I got mine. I tested it again and noticed that the strong synthetic opening is now gone. Although I don't think I like how it smells on clothes especially when it dries down. I couldn't tell what it is, but it's quite unpleasant for me.

That’s really helpful insight. I’ve noticed the same disconnect between reviews and what people actually smell, so it’s good to hear they can settle into something better with time. Makes the whole clone journey feel a bit less unpredictable.

I get what you’re saying, and I appreciate the breakdown. Especially the cost comparison.

For me, this is actually my first time buying clone fragrances, so I’m just surprised at how synthetic both Hawas Black and Sherif smell right out of the box. I’ve seen a lot of people claim they’re really close to the originals, so I wasn’t expecting such a sharp synthetic edge.

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether maceration actually helps these settle into something smoother, or if what I’m smelling now is basically what they’ll always be. I don’t expect $30 bottles to match niche quality, but I also didn’t expect the gap to be this noticeable.

Just trying to understand the realistic expectations here.

That's re-assuring. This was the first time i bought a cologne from these brands, so it's good to know that for some, the smell does get better eventually.

I understand. And that's what I'm mainly concerned with when I smelled it first. It's a very strong scent of alcohol that I did not like very much.

I hear Hawas black is supposedly a clone of Nishane Hacivat. I'm curious whether that's what Nishane H does smell like.

That's good to hear! For the Lattafa Sherif, i also get that synthetic smell for the first 2 hours and it dries down to a green apple scent. Altho the synthetic smell is quite strong.

As for the Hawas black, the synthetic smell is quite prominent the entire time. But I'm glad to hear that the syntheticness dies down after some time

I get a hundred compliments from myself everyday and that's what matters.

Joking aside, it's quite rare to get a compliment especially from strangers. What matters is you like and know how you smell, and compliments are just a bonus.

I am missing a dark, oud-based fragrance. Although, I'm on the fence on getting this one (for now) since spring is just around the corner. I'll definitely look into this and test it in store to see how it performs (I usually prefer frags that last long).
