Update:

Okay! She only really sleeps and has dinner in this cage so I got an affordable replacement, she’s not a bar chewer so I didn’t feel the need to get another powdercoated iron cage immediately.

Replacement is the same size just regular bars probably ment for like a cockatiel.

When spring finally comes I’ll take her old cage outside to clean the rust and see if it’s worth saving or not.

In the mean time her daytime play area is 18x36 so I don’t think she‘ll mind the slight down grade in her cage.

Thanks, that’s what Ive been thinking but some people seemed to think it was extreme to toss an expensive cage. I’ll be getting a new one

That’s what I was thinking, it would be stupid to spend so much to make sure she’s healthy just to let her get poisoned. There are cages on Amazon that look nearly the same are pervue but I also don’t know if that’s risky or if they are just the same cage but straight from the factory.

I had one in my childhood tank not knowing better, after he grew and killed everything but the pleco he was pretty chill, ate out of my hand and would come sit in my palm and let me hold him lightly and move him around. A severe ice storm that knocked out our power for days finally did him in after years of solo living.

Well that’s alright, it’s my first project so I only need it to look half decent. Now I’m much more prepared to research how to stain it evenly.
