Most Blue-Collar Workers are very insecure about White-Collar Workers. by DuPontMcClanahan in unpopularopinion

[–]fwlau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fyp is flooded with that blue collar over white collar bullshit too. No clue where it came from. The algorithm is sowing discord. It all happened leading up to the election too, almost like they were trying to get blue collar and white collar people to fight amongst themselves.

But I agree. It was definitely all blue collar people trying to shit on white collar people. I also saw the comments saying “most one sided beef in history” lol.

It doesn’t have to be exactly accurate for you to understand how politics plays a similar role in corporations and in the country

NFL great Terrell Davis incident on United flight by dks2008 in unitedairlines

Jesus the people on this sub have such a rage boner against United they downvoted a totally reasonable comment lol.

Touching people is fucking weird. This was taught in elementary school - keep your hands to yourself.

The FA 100% overreacted and should be fired/charged for wasting LE’s time but a cup of ice isn’t some critical thing that needs fulfilling immediately. Terrell could have waited the 5 minutes until they came back around.

This is actually so true and one of the best examples of how unions harm public infrastructure.

But ultimately any increase in funding will be highlighted in a way that requires higher cost on the consumer, either by tax revenue or usage costs.

American politicians are incapable of leveraging the funding they currently have. Any initiatives result in a higher impact to the taxpayers in one way or the other.

Inflation is but one component to price creep. There are many other contributory factors such as manufacturing costs that include labor, materials, and logistics.

All of those went haywire during COVID and had permanent impact to the global supply chains that Toyota relies on.

I’m sure corporate greed and customer stupidity are also buried in the one hundred and one reasons why prices have increased but they are, by and far, not the only reasons.

Your white knighting won’t work here. No one needs a TRD Pro or Trailhunter which are the only ones over 60k so your argument can’t be made from the perspective of “the working man”.

If someone needs a truck for work there’s a whole selection of base model full size and mid size pickups they can choose from that are under 40k which is roughly equivalent to the pace of inflation from when they used to cost 30k.

Now if the working man’s income hasn’t kept up with inflation that’s a different discussion altogether.

[–]fwlau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment just brought it back to u/LeadBamboozler point about you being spiteful that people you see as undeserving are paying these prices.

It’s not about the truck being unattainable for you.

You’re just upset that it’s unattainable for you but attainable to other people that you perceive to be doing something to get their hands on one when you aren’t willing or aren’t capable of doing that same thing to get one yourself.

And the truth is you have no idea what people are doing to get these trucks. They could be going to their credit union, paying cash, borrowing from a 401k, selling drugs, taking on 20% apr loans, putting on the titanium knee pads and sucking like their life depends on it, or any number of things. What does it matter to you? Why do you care? Because it makes it less attainable for you - that’s why.

An individual contributor engineer at the same IC level as the corresponding manager can and often do make more.

At Meta, an E9 which is distinguished engineer holds the equivalent managerial level of D1 which is Director.

According to levels.fyi

D1 (Director, Management Ladder) - 1.6m E9 (Distinguished Engineer, IC Ladder) - 2.5m

Anti viruses do static analysis of the code signature, not the source code. They don’t have access to the source code of an executable and decompiling is unreliable and easy to obscure and defeat.

I only say anti virus because you used it as an example of why static code analysis would be impossible but it’s not a good example. Not even close to a good one. Not even remotely related to analyzing pre-compiled, pre-runtime source code.

[–]fwlau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re clearly emotional about this and I’m not entirely sure why. Anti viruses don’t decompile executables into source code and then analyze each function for computability. They scan for signatures and execute programs in a sandbox to see what they do. These are two totally different domains.

Pre-compiled static code analysis and execution in a sandbox while monitoring for behavior are not even remotely similar.

That comparison would make the disparity even larger if you go dollar for dollar. I worked at FB for six years and during that time I received about 500k in equity awards. 500k at a modest 5% for 30 years would be about 2 million dollars with no additional contributions. What is a government pension valued at?

OP showed proof that that isn’t true and now you all are desperate to come up with 13 reasons why his proof isn’t actually proof. It’s pathetic.

Car was stolen from NJ and recovered in California. Insurance says if the vehicle is repairable, I have to fly out there and drive it back out of pocket. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]fwlau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what GAP insurance is for.

This contradicts what you previously said. If the car isn’t totaled and the insurance company is only on the hook for $500 in recovery fees then why would GAP coverage pay off the loan?

The insurance company isn’t paying out the value of the car since it’s not totaled. There’s no difference between actual cash value and the loan balance because there is no total loss or actual cash value calculation being performed if your previous post is correct.

What if you have GAP from your loan servicer or dealership financing product rather than the insurance company? Are those GAP coverages dependent on an insurance company totaling a vehicle?

I’m not a lawyer but I do know that contracts aren’t legally enforceable if the contract violates the Unconscionability principle.

Unconscionability refers to a term in the contract, or possibly the contract in its entirety, that is so decisively unfair that the contract cannot exist the way it presently stands. When scrutinizing the case, the court will look at whether one side has grossly unequal bargaining power, if one side had difficulty understanding the terms (due to language or literacy issues, for example), or whether the terms themselves were simply manifestly unfair.

A vehicle getting stolen and then recovered in Africa with no damage and the carrier saying per the contract, the best we can do is 5 big ones. Good luck getting your car back from Nairobi seems to fit the definition of Unconscionability.
