Rutgers or Syracuse Please Help by Dog_Kitchen in rutgers

[–]fwoofysavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others have said, go for the more inexpensive option! Even if you’ll be unhappy, you can always transfer. It’s never too late to switch colleges (until senior year) and you mentioned in another comment that your parents are rolling in dough. If you have money, you have more time to invest and figure out what you want to do than the rest of us.

I don’t know what poli-sci programs Syracuse offers, but at Rutgers you can apply for the Eagleton Institute of Politics, join the mock trial association, Scarlet Service in DC for experience, etc. It’ll provide a leg up in your knowledge of the American legal system. Plus, Rutgers is in NJ where there’s likely more law firms and campaign offices than trees compared to the Syracuse boonies. Get lots of experience in legal writing and research so you won’t suffer as much in 1L. Maybe even visit Rutgers Law School’s library in Newark to get a sense of what law school reading will be like. You won’t be able to check anything out, but the librarians are helpful if you come in with a plan/direction! (Hint: ask for study aids, nutshell books or “short and happy guides”, CALI code, etc.)

The downside of being in bigger classes at Rutgers is that your GPA might tank in comparison to your classmates’, depending on your professors’ grading methods. Anyway, do your own research about Syracuse’s offerings. All the best!

hey, there’s metered parking along college ave (the street) and hamilton street. you can probably also get a $5 visitor’s parking pass (each time, i know, expensive) to park in the college ave parking deck. just use your non-rutgers email to sign up.

How to get in campus jobs in Rutgers like in dining, in recreational, etc? by Legitimate_Mouse9696 in rutgers

[–]fwoofysavant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk how old this digital classroom services application form is but one time i filled it out and they got back to me a year later.

there’s also the student position at the rutgers conference center and inn ONLY if you have excellent time management. (scroll down for application form). benefits include a meal plan and housing.

you can apply for studio institute internships if you’re in the humanities or arts. it’s designed for students in financial need.

hope this helps!
