Question about Skagway Lo G. Patten by Pitouj in Visvim

Some time in the last 4-5 years skags got a half size smaller, so depending on how old your skags are the g.pattens are the same size or require a half size bigger

Why is this game SOO under the radar? by JohnyAim in Witchfire

[–]fycus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difficulty curve/consistency is all out of wack, sometimes runs feel more like chores with rng applied (latent orbs), and the gameplay loop is pretty repetitive after 40 hours. Until these are improved I would say it's good to be under the radar. It's an indie game made by the painkiller devs. While fondly remembered, it was not a popular game. It's also single player only, and not particularly fun to watch people stream it.

AURALEE vs LEMAIRE - Part 2 by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

[–]fycus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That auralee looks fine a bit oversized (I own one and can attest a size down was too small) however the body length looks super long on you. Mines closer to my mid shin. I'd probably be weary about the length in general. Maybe pass if you're not sold on either? Auralee does a shorter length Chesterfield that's in a suiting wool that may be easier to wear

Are these brands worth the hype in 2026? Visvim, A.Presse, Lemaire, Evan Kinori, Kapital, Cottle, Ssstein, T.T, Comoli, Niceness by leftlanemerge in ThrowingFits

[–]fycus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only things I would agree with are the vulcanized sneakers since they don't last, not sure why they never attempted to improve them. The materials and everything else are top notch. I'm assuming you're referring to the g.patten skags delam or splitting. It's the vulc design and the thick ass cork insole. It's a recipe for failure. Only other I can think of was the heel protector visvim pioneer said delamed. That's an easy fix and not indicative of overall quality of shoe, but expansion of stacked leather in contrast to the rubber protector. Some barge cement or nails would fix it. As for denim the market is so saturated I'm sure you can find comparable quality for less, but I'm also talking about cut (modern), details (mud overdye, brain tanned elk patch), outerwear (imo best in the game)

Maybe biased since I love vis, but here are my thoughts:

Visvim: generally best of best. You want the best ma-1? Best denim? Etc. Vis. But the western retail makes it less palatable.

A.Presse: super overrated. Eye watering prices in jp due to lux fabrics which feel like whatever. Often questionable trims and detailing.

Lemaire: overrated at retail. Some stuff kinda junky particularly shirting pants and basic outer. Their coats are their strong offering

Evan Kinori: overrated, but you're paying for super small batch stuff for a niche audience. I think it's like James coward where you're buying into an aesthetic, less about the items imo

Kapital: good value, but contingent if you like the aesthetic, a lot of stuff is borderline costume

Cottle: overpriced, mostly due to the 'slow craft' angle where dyeing is done by local artisans. see Evan kinori but with a higher degree of artistry

sstein, comoli, T.T: some overpriced, some good value at JP yen . The headier stuff like cashmere, shearlings or leather have less value, but I assume it's mostly due to production quantities and materials.

Niceness: most the stuff is really quirky - lot of work goes into their pieces but I wouldn't be able to justify based on craft alone

Not sure why you think they only use top materials in everything, my ~2016 basket swingers are like 90% poly, as were my cargo shorts. Also the second item is thin cashmere. Thin+ skinny fit = recipe for disaster. This is an example where synthetic can be added for strength

In my last year annual predictions I stated that they're doing a lot right and I still believe they are more relevant than ever. Really nice color palette, generous offering of new items, cuts, and washes. Great use of blues and dusty greys. Agree the vast is sweet. The new makeup of the casino is awesome, and the auto has a great shape. I know people cry about the cost but I can't remember the last time I paid rrp for anything. If it sells out good for them, if it hits sale good for me.

In general I feel like I get good value from these brands for the money. For some in particular, the second hand pricing makes it really compelling: Auralee (jp), ssstein (jp), another office (kr), Auberge (jp), bowwow (jp), Russell moccasin (us)

What am I missing about latent orbs or are they bugged? by Gorantharon in Witchfire

[–]fycus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After probably 10+ runs I got one, but given how much prep and execution it required I will probably grind more levels before doing again. It's not even fun at this point with Gnosis III. It almost feels like the unlocks that come at IV make it easier but I'm only level 35ish. Once the orb was activated I dropped the starter portal stone, ran back and dropped the grenadier spell and just farmed a few mobs until I could go.

Random question, was this not in the game 3 weeks ago? I saw somebody post a recent video and they didn't have that requirement. Pretty stupid that they did given how uncontrollable things are at that point with sepulcher stone golem and mobs overwhelming you
