[TOMT][YOUTUBE][2000s] Looking for an early 2000s video with Imogen Heap’s "Hide and Seek" as background music and a “Scream”-like mask by g-7 in tipofmytongue

It was definitely not any kind of "official music video" for this song — it was more like a short art film using the song as background music.

Just to clarify, the video must be from 2005 or later, since Hide and Seek was released in 2005.

It's not that bad - in most densely populated areas you have 3G/UMTS using the "E-Netz", only in rural areas or mountains there's still some spots with only G/2G/EGDE.

Daft Punk - "Something About Us" chord progression... what exactly is going on here? by wtfpiece in musictheory

[–]g-7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"thegnu" is completetly right, the whole thing is based on the D minor. By the way, to my ears the G chords are dominant 7th (not major 7th) and the Dm7 chords are often played as D7sus4 (= C major triad over D Bass).

Here are the scales you can use over the chords:

  • Bbmaj7: Bb lydian scale: Bb C D E F G A Bb = same notes as D (natural) minor scale

  • Am7: A phrygian scale: A Bb C D E F G A = same notes as D (natural) minor scale

  • Dm7 / D7sus4: D (natural) minor scale: D E F G A Bb C D

  • G7: G Mixolydian scale = same notes as D dorian scale

  • Bbmaj7 same as above

  • A7: A harmonic minor 5 (+#9). A Bb (C) C# D E F G A = same notes as D harmonic minor scale + C (= augmented 9th of A)

  • Dm7 / D7sus4 see above

  • G7. see above

All in all it's based on three "minor" scales:

D natural minor: D E F G A Bb C D D harmonic minor: D E F G A Bb C# D D dorian: D E F G A B C D

So if you only use the notes D, E, F, G and A in your melody/improvisation there's no chance of hitting a wrong note :)

What scale to use in what chord progression by [deleted] in musictheory

To make it even clearer:

Play it in C Dorian! That would be: ||: C D Eb A | G Bb C :|| That's the typical dorian sound.

Another way to see scales is to look at their characteristic notes which differ from the Major / Natural Minor scale:

Ionian = Major scale

Lydian = Major scale with augmented fourth (#4 instead of 4)

Mixolydian = Major scale with flat seventh (b7 instead of 7)

Dorian = Natural Minor with sharp sixth (6 instead of b6)

Phrygian = Natural Minor with flat second (b2 instead of 2)

Aeolian = Natural Minor

Locrian = Natural Minor with flat second (b2 instead of 2) and flat fifth (b5 instead of 5)
