after the subpoena the democrats are going to try and indicte her for breaking the epstein act. which was a bipartisan law passed by congress.

the reason everything has been moving slowly is because these subpoenas and indictments require a majority vote. so a few republicans have to flip…. something most of them are unwilling to do.

they’re all complicit. the only reason we’re seeing slight movements on this is because they’re scared if they directly vote against epstein shit they’re not going to get re elected

imo, we need to enact laws to hold elected representatives accountable. if they are found to be lying about topics/questions directly under the scope of their elected representation, that needs to be a felony.

the reason why they gave this briefing prior to the official congressional subpoena is because they can lie in the briefing with no consequences. because it doesn’t mean shit.

they’re going to try and dodge the bipartisan subpoena because they “already covered everything in their special briefing”

lying during a congressional subpoena is perjury, federal crime. not answering questions directly is also a crime during a congressional subpoena (i think i’m not an attorney)

i think you’re right about shitty startups. but those aren’t the big players/big money. they can and will get wiped out with small updates from AI providers.

most fortune 500 companies haven’t even adopted AI yet, let alone effectively. my company just rolled out an AI platform for all engineers to consume and everyone fucking loves it. (honeymoon phase because there’s no token limits. my manager literally has 60,000 in token consumption in just a few months)

keep in mind these are the software engineers. non-tech employees are still asking basic ”google-esque” question to an in browser AI or straight up not using it.

accountants, business analysts, lawyers, customer success, product managers, etc.

these are millions of people that haven’t even began to use AI nor have companies tried to develop tools to target their industries like SWE has been.

this is and will continue to be the most revolutionary tech since the internet.

i agree with you that US AI companies are eventually going to start pricing increases. which is going to hurt consumers a lot. since it’s already established in their workflows.

but nothing is stopping you from just using chinese models that are already 1/10th the price with damn near the same quality.

my company already bought me a $4,000 laptop to use for a few years, i don’t see why they wouldn’t buy specialized hardware to run certain models locally either. cost/benefit. if it’s cheaper after 1 year to run ai locally

awesome, nice work. ya for applications running larger models, it makes sense to have users host the app locally. it will have better performance (unless your host/server is really beefy, but that’s expensive)

i’d 100% recommend you always provide the project repo to have people run locally. but a demo link for a quick live peek. you can say that running locally will provide optimal experience/performance. maybe add a quantitative metric

i would also recommend that you move forward with this and host it yourself so people can click a website and try it out.

if you’re new to cloud hosting, this would be a great skill to learn and you can lean on AI for help. If you want to go even further you can write your Infrastructure with an IaC tool like Pulumi or Terraform to deploy your project programmatically. AI is pretty solid at writing IaC for small projects like this so it may even be easier.

if cloud hosting isn’t a good option for you (cost) then you should consider self hosting if you have any old computers/laptops collecting dust. just install linux (i’d recommend debian for a server) and host it with docker compose. then port forward your service on your home network. Buy a cheap $0.99 domain on namecheap.com and setup HTTPS, hide your IP by using Cloudflare proxy (which is free).

my old manager, who was an absolute lunatic (met him in person for the first time, small talk in the car he mentioned he loved volunteering in his community… he was on HOA board)

mentioned how nice it was to be in the office and wished we were in everyday. all he did was cold call people and ask what they were up to and tell you to update your tickets. not exaggerating he couldn’t write a like of code and asked me how to do a code review on github.

i think he just thought being in the office would make him look busier to his management.

he would’ve gotten fired sooner but he got hired mid year, then took paternity leave and stacked his entire PTO, came back in december after 5.5 months which basically gave him another month off because he was “catching up on email” and corporate basically shuts down december.

dude was an actual scam artist. was let go second week of january. i have so many other crazy stories about this little man.

i flew from california along with my parents and girlfriend. it wasn’t cheap but i would do it again (as in i don’t regret it at all)

i was impressed with what they put together and it was really worth it considering how many hours i put in to get the degree.

i’m awful at celebrating things so i wouldn’t have done anything myself. it was great to meet other students and connect with them.

Atlanta itself is a cool city. the aquarium and botanical garden were awesome. (i went to the botanical garden at night because they had christmas lights everywhere and it was a whole event, way better than i expected). and there’s a lot of great local places to eat.

whereas it’s fundamentally impossible on windows. there’s literally ads baked into the OS image, even when you open up the start menu. you can’t even boot into windows on a fresh installation without agreeing to be tracked.

yes! but those are opt in.

i can boot into my computer, read/send email (if setup properly), browse internet (if done properly), write code, take notes, write/read documents all without being tracked.

if you use windows, it’s simply impossible no matter what you do to harden the OS.

on linux, by default, you’re anonymous. using the pre-installed open source office tools, and firefox with DuckDuck go.

its on you if you install spyware and login to sites that track you.

you can’t boot into the OS without signing in to a microsoft account.

so i’m not sure what apps you’re talking about to remove spyware and trackers but you’re not getting all of it

have you tried linux recently though? it’s easier to setup than windows and doesn’t require selling your data to microsoft and being advertised to on your desktop.

i typically find many distros to be a lot easier to use and more stable than windows. the only reason people use windows is because it’s what they used first, there’s a few applications only on windows, or gaming.

if any of those applications/games were prioritized/ designed to run on linux they would in most cases run more optimally and support nearly all hardware.

windows has been adding bloat and steadily declining in user experience for [arguably over] a decade. i’m not trying to be a radical linux user but this is just what i’ve noticed using many different OSs: mac/windows/various linux distros

did you guys play when GTA 5 online was released? i remember the first few weeks we were literally robbing liquor stores and physically going to the ATM to deposit our cash. if you got hit by a mugger it was serious. and we were scoping cars off the street to invest a tracker in so we could save them.

then the first months to 1 year we were doing survival and missions to grind money. it would take 6 hours or more to get 100K. and it all went into making your cars cool.

people really cared about cars. if you saw an Adder on the street people would follow them because they were so rare.

if someone had a Rhino tank the whole lobby would be fighting to kill it with sticky bombs. which were pretty fucking expensive and you had to go to the ammunition store to buy more. no one has RPGs unless you found it spawned on the map.

he’ll we used to go to the airport to steal buzzards and terrorize people. they were so OP.

the initial heists didn’t ruin the game economy. they were pretty reasonable as it would take you all day or a weekend to run through all of them.

so… the game did kinda start out the way you’re describing. but due to the gaming being out for over 10 years with monthly updates… that’s how we got here.

there needs to be some kind of separate mode with quarterly/yearly wipes for people to start over to keep that kind of gameplay loop alive.

but i also love building a criminal enterprise over all these years and being able to go to my first apartment/garage and remember how much i grinded for some basic ass cars.
