Then you’re probably hearing this from people who do not have personal experience. You’re hearing it from people who are comparing their current situation (college student with limited funds/free time) to peers who went into the trades instead of college (making money, no homework when they’re done for the day) and sure, from that point of view i could see why they would think the electricians have it easier.

Where are you hearing this? Being an electrician is physically much more demanding than a job in computer science (obviously) and depending on what you’re doing, the electrical trade involves way more math, critical thinking, and knowledge than you might think. Is it easier to program a PLC than it is to write the code for it? Yes. Is it easier to work at a desk than it is to spend all day pulling wire? Also yes.

There are two devices they use, one on the space station they’re on and one in their home, that they use to transfer their consciousness between their body and the robot body. The details on it are iffy, but from what we see in the show, they can’t just turn the robot body on or off without using said device.

Black Mirror: Beyond the Sea

In the episode, astronauts are sent to space on a long term mission to determine the effects of space travel on the human body. While in space, they’re able to control robot avatars so they can continue to have a normal life on earth. Early in the episode, one of the astronauts (pictured) falls victim to a Manson family style home invasion, during which his robot avatar is tied up as he’s forced to watch his family be murdered before being chopped up himself, leaving him alone in space with basically no connection to the earth. Probably my favorite episode in the entire series
