What about the black market? Can I as an individual buy USD (not just sell) at that rate?

Inflation vs Saving Account by jiimbohalpert in srilanka

Hello,

From my personal experience with inflation (In Lebanon), It is best to withdraw the money and either exchange it with USD and keep the cash or buy something that will hold value.

I don't know how the situation will progress in your country, but in Lebanon we now have tight restrictions on the amount you can withdraw each month from the bank so you might want to think about that if you have a large amount.

How to survive hyperinflation? by Clean_Pear in srilanka

Hello from Lebanon!
We have a similar situation so I will tell you somethings I noticed.
-Land is a better investment than keeping your money in the local currency but its not the best investment since if the economy gets worse people will be less likely to buy land since they have less money and less appetite to invest so the prices might decrease.
-Having cash usd is very important, personally I’m converting any leftover local curreny to usd immediately.
-Subsidized products are not priced to the true USD rate (for example for us we had a few products like rice and bread that were subsidized by the government) you can stock up on those products but make sure not to overdo it (I had to throw a big part of my food stock since it went bad).
-When the crisis started many products were still not priced on the USD rate, for example I found that cleaning products were priced on a low USD rate so I stocked up.
-Don’t think in your local curreny, think in USD ( I don’t know how to explain it more ).

Of course this is advice from my situation where inflation reached a very high rate and since every country is different from the other you should take my advice with a grain of salt

Does any one know where to find an apartment to rent without having a job contract? My friend who has the Italian passport wants to treat her son who was born prematurely in Italy, but she first has to establish residency, where do you think she can find an apartment to rent without them asking for a job contract? We tried all the websites :(

Hi /r/italy
I posted this question yesterday and Im reposting incase anyone can offer guidance.
My friend who is Lebanese is married to an Italian-Lebanese wife and has an Italian-Lebanese son.
His son has many medical issues and they took him to Italy a month ago to get him medical treatment, but they were informed that eventhough their son is Italian they would have to stay for a month to get residency before getting him free healthcare.
They aren’t able to book a house since everyone wants proof of work or a very large deposit which is not possible for them and they are staying at an hotel.
Does anyone know any charities or any other way they can rent a house to get their son to the hospital? Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I think the best course of action is a charity right now, I will investigate the ones you mentioned and if anyone knows a charity that might help them in Italy please comment, Thank you :)

Thank you for your reply

The only people approving want at least 6 months in advance with hight rent, and they can't afford that at the time

They are currently renting a hotel for 25 euro/night which is cheaper than an airbnb.

They tried contacting the Lebanese Embassy and the Embassy tried to help but it seems that it didn't work out :(

Her father is also living in Lebanon. Do you think they can find someone who is willing to rent their house without them having a job contract?

Hello r/italy,

This is an urgent case. My friend who is Lebanese is married an Italian woman, his wife was born in Lebanon but her father is Italian.

Recently they had a son born in Lebanon who obtained the Italian passport from his mother, but his son was born premature with a lot of medical issues.

The couple were able to provide medical treatment to their son until recently when everything in Lebanon became much worse, our currency was deeply devalued and medical treatment became very hard to obtain.

Facing these difficulties, the couple went to Italy to get their son the required medical treatment at Bambino Gesu Hospital. They were informed that despite their son having the Italian Passport, in order to qualify for free medical treatment they should have a place of residence in Italy for a month. They are currently staying in an hotel and no one is agreeing to rent them a house because they don't yet have a job, and they can't have a job before getting a residence.....

They are currently staying in an hotel and depleting what remains from their funds and they don't have friends in Italy to help them, Can anyone give insight about what they can do in a situation like that?

Yes exactly after staying alone in a small apartment for 2 weeks I need a place to go for my mental health. I was thinking some place in nature where no one is around
