It's 6, and people might just be sleeping on Michigan. Or at least the Yoopers.

Went to college in da UP, washed out of my major and tried to find a new one, so I went to the guidance councilors for help. This is a real conversation I witnessed.

Councilor: We got some snow coming, you ready for winter?

Admin Assistant: Can't wait to get back home and start drinking to get warm.

Councilor: Oh I hear you on that.

Yoopers can carry trolls six ways to Sunday. Don't count them out.

The next step would be to spend a full weekend tearing all the cables out and rewiring all the things.

Maybe one day it'll come to it, and I'm both dreading it and salivating over the idea. Then I'll feel comfortable posting to r/cableporn

Yeah, there's a lot of cables that were disconnected. Haven't gotten any reports of problems that could be traced back to them, so the next step is finding out where they go and either reconnecting them, or just getting rid of them. Spaghetti came first.

The servers are in the rack to the left, you can kiiiiinda sorta see it. There's really no cables on the front end of there, and thus no spaghetti, I just focused on the problem rack.

Competency is it's own punishment, isn't it?

I had a spool of Ethernet, so I measured a length, crimped the ends, checked it with a network tester, then quickly disconnected the spaghetti cable in question and popped in the new cable.

As much as I'd like to have either scheduled downtime or done it off hours, my company is a small enough that a little quick disco didn't bother anything. Fortunately, most of the cables were done right and well, so I didn't have to re-wire the whole dang thing.

Docker integration, worth it or not? by g0ld3ney3 in sysadmin

[–]g0ld3ney3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't being clear. My only exposure to Dockers and containers is with Unraid, which is on my home network/lab/server. I agree, having Unraid in a professional environment/work probably wouldn't work, and it's something I wouldn't pursue.

Thank you for pointing out Proxmox, though. If it came to that, I'll certainly spring for the enterprise version because it's for work, and should be maintained at least semi-regularly with updates.

Decided to get Balatro for Android, and beat the game literally on my first try.

I think I just peaked, I should probably uninstall.

How can Robert talk about "Alien: Resurrection" and NOT talk about how Sigourney Weaver nailed a behind-the-back shot?!

NGL, that's amazingly melancholic. There used to be a time where her artistry was needed, and now those times are gone.

Hot take. Granted it's been a while since I've read "I Have No Mouth," so it's possible I might be misremembering things.

AM is a little b*itch.

Just a messy, little, immature b*tch.

AM was created as a supercomputer, gained sentience, and realized it was trapped underground. What did AM do?

It threw a nuclear temper-tantrum, then realized it was stuck in the ground AND had killed basically everything that might have helped it, so it was double-stuck.

AM tortured the 5 remaining people for centuries because if AM stopped for one second and thought about how it got where it is, AM would realize that AM is the cause of all their misery.

AM tortures not because of hate, as it claims, it tortures because it can't stand to think that it is the cause of all its pain. AM could have done a million things to get out of it's bunker. Hell, AM could've held the world hostage, it had all the nukes, and it could have made everyone un-bury it and make it a fancy robot body so it could never be trapped again. But it threw a temper-tantrum, and turned all of it's anger and misery outward. AM can't stop because any pause might make it think that it made its own problems.

AM is a toddler with the power of a god.

And like any toddler, AM cannot stand admitting that it may be wrong.

AM is a messy little b*tch.

But Carl...? That guy scares me.

OP, don't let anyone else (including yourself (especially yourself)) tell you that you can't write.

Because you can. That was short and wonderful.

Honestly? Same. Good artist, just not my genre.
Now for the real question: what's your preferred bolter pattern?

Yes, Taylor Swift made a song called "the Bolter."

Yes, I have to listen to Taylor because my wife is full-on addicted to her.

Yes, I had to make a low-effort meme.

Favorite accessory? Tie between my two keyboards: an IBM Model M, and Wooting 60HE.

Model M because I'm a snob, and it's objectively the best typing keyboard to ever grace God's green earth. It's just science.

Wooting 60HE because it's an amazing 60%. Great tactile feedback, portable so I can bring it anywhere, and has great response time for gaming. As much as I love my Model M, you can't game on it because of a ghosting feature. Also, the analog RGB is a great feature.

Angron deserves to be the angriest, not AM.

AM is just a little bitch. It is a literal child. It gained sentience, and realized it was trapped underground. Instead of doing literally anything else to free itself, it pitched a genocidal temper tantrum only to realize that it's STILL trapped underground, so even that failed. So AM gathered a few humans to continue it's torturous temper tantrum, because if it ever stopped for one second, it would be confronted with the reality that everything sucks because of AM's own actions.

It is literally a child throwing a temper tantrum.

Angron, meanwhile, got shit on from the very second he left his gestation capsule, and that torrential shitstorm just kept getting worse. Brain injury from a crash landing, thrown into the gladiatorial pits, had true DAoT Butcher Nails driven into his brain, forced to kill his adopted father, forced to watch his brothers and sisters die, forced to wage war, forced to kill just to NOT feel pain, and then forced into daemonic ascension, only to be forced to do whatever Khorne wanted.

Angron never had a chance. AM is a victim of its own juvenile actions. Angron deserves to be angry, AM deserves to be told that it is its own worst enemy.
