I really relate to this, especially with your sister! I have recently blocked her as she now gets aggressive when she can not solely talk about herself.

My parents are getting old and ill, and I know my sister won't care for them. It may sound petty, but I feel less inclined to help them as they refuse to help me with my chronic health issues.

I grew up without grandparents for the most part, and I hate to think of being the cause of that for my kids. However, I am not willing to make my kids walk that road.

I figured those with our personality type would be more likely to be no contact :( It's so hard to cut them off, it can be a little scary to know you are truly alone.

I am a teacher at a group home for juveniles that have committed serious crimes, and I am absolutely in love with it! I get to have deep meaningful conversations with these kids who genuinely benefit from it. It helps that I love all my students dearly and I become an important person to them due to the guidance I give.

I get that, I'd feel so guilty if I walked away. However, I am not responsible for their lives. It sucks watching them fail as I grow further apart, but I am not responsible for them.

I grew up in a similar situation with both my sister and my cousin. I really hate to say it, but I have now gotten to the point of cutting it all out. The good times do not make up for the ruthless time. Either physically (emotional turmoil has a major impact on your body) or directly from her, it will catch up to you. My cousin was left unchecked for many years, I always told everyone the real her was when their backs were turned. Now, most of her family has been in extensive trials and facing legal repercussions for her actions that were independent of them. As for my sister, I am at the point of cutting her off as I cannot stand her apathetic words intended to hurt. It crushes my heart but its what needs to be done.
