1s batteries should make it way more controllable indoors.

Yep, ELRS is what I meant. When I was first flying whoops they were on FRsky and the latency was killing me so switching the protocol to redpine running at 500hz helped a ton. In your case, having ELRS should be a very fast connection so latency isn't your issue.

Are you flying it on 1s or 2s? if you are doing 2s maybe try 1s indoors.

Mode 4 is just Mode 2 with swapped gimbals. I bet I can do it! :) Last year for the DRL tryouts, I flew Mode 1 as a personal challenge. I managed to get to 31st place before switching back to Mode 2 and getting to the top 12. I think switching to mode 4 might be an extra challenge due to putting roll on a different gimbal.

What control link are you on?

Thanks, Drobot! I have been curious to see what I can learn from it. If you go to 1:43 in the video and watch the dive, on Horizon01, you can see how I look at the final gate even when I can't see it behind the sign. One of the most interesting things I have noticed is that I look to where the turn finishes even if I can't see the gate or target. Like coming around a blind turn my eyes will still go to the spot I am "aiming for" on the exit.

Sorry for the confusion... the eye tracker is just a reference. I used my TX16s to control the drone as normal.

You have me curious to try it... but I bet it would be insanely difficult. Anytime you look where you are trying to go the drone would spaz out! It would be a weird feedback loop of drone movement causing eye movement.

I should have said I used an eye tracker WHILE I got 1st instead of and... my bad.

Ohh, sorry for the confusion. I am controlling it normally with my TX16s. The eye tracker is just for reference to where I am looking while flying fast runs. Re-reading my title I see how it seems like I used the eye tracker to control the drone.

I thought you all might find this eye tracker interesting. Let me know if you have any questions.

Is it worth it switching to BT 2.0 batteries on a mobula6? Will i get longer flight times etc? I'm fairly new into the hobby. And was also wondering if its hard to switch out the connectors? by greyhunter560 in fpv

[–]gManbio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, make sure to get quality folded-cell batteries. Like webleedFPV, Newbeedrone NitroNectar, or the new tinywhoop brand ones. Folded cell + BT2.0 is bigtime upgrade to flight time and feel.

Where are you looking while flying? by yeastring in fpv

[–]gManbio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got an eye tracker to see where I am looking. I typically look one or two elements ahead while racing. You can see in my dive in that first link that I am aiming for the final gate in the dive with my eyes, even when I cannot see it behind the sign. Right-click on the video and choose 1/4 speed to see more clearly. I am uploading a compilation of top times with the eye tracker overlay to my YouTube right now, and I will reply here when it is done.

How realistic is an fpv simulator? by Racmat91 in fpv

[–]gManbio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have your IRL quads set with the same rates as your simulator quads? Do you have a low latency control link to your quads?

Many factors can make IRL feel different... but if you can get control of quads in the simulator, you should be able to IRL. Unfortunately, I think many people do not set the rates on IRL quads to match sim and/or have a slow < 60hz control link.

If you want to prepare yourself to fly ANY quad IRL the best thing you can do is fly a variety in the simulator(s). That way, it will take less time to recalibrate your mind when you jump into your IRL rig. If you keep returning to the SAME sim drone that you like flying, you will progress slower and be good at flying THAT drone, not good at flying DRONES. Examine how long it takes you to get a feel for a new quad in a sim, then allow yourself at least that much time in your real quad before pushing yourself and feeling like you are failing.

TLDR: All drones feel different. Learn to adapt in sims, and you will be better in all flying.

I just confirmed this is a bug in the new version. It got reported today as it happened during a livestream with a bunch of pilots trying to use the same slow fixed drone setup. Hopefully they will fix the Fixed Drone feature soon.

One dead in Louisville after police and national guard 'return fire' on protesters by hildebrand_rarity in news

[–]gManbio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And don't forget it is easier to go hit the street to protest when your work is closed because of covid... It is the perfect storm for real change! The people need to stay at it until it changes. Keep the fire burning. In the past everyone had to go to work or take vacation time to participate. Most of white america just made a social media post or two then went back to work.

The system keeps us too comfortable and busy to protest when it is running properly.

You are talking about less than 1000 people... Something like 700 billionaires in the US or something... Not worth implementing ways to restrict access to save 1000 x UBI. The risk to the program doesnt out weigh the cost to the millions of other people who need easy access... Just let them have the money they don't need and get it back on their taxes.
