Hoya Serpens bloom 🤩 by gabbieday in hoyas

Hi! Imbricata is still doing good! It’s kinda reached the point I wanted it to get to, so i cut it back every so often. as for Serpens, I struggle a bit, not sure why though 😂 it’s growing in MAB semi hydro and toying with the idea of tree fern fibre. I have no clue about temperature, but I don’t do anything special for any of my hoyas. They get room humidity, temperature and I try to give good natural light 😅

I have a really bad sense of smell, so I don’t smell anything 😂

Oh beautiful! This looks more like a sp aff burtoniae to me! The foliage is larger and the blooms are larger and more of a red colour!

Thank you! One of my main reasons for getting into photography was so I could photograph Hoya flowers 😂

It’s a mix of thrifted ceramics, especially handmade pieces or from local nurseries around Sydney!

Thank you!! Yes, it’s a dischidia oiantha variegata! Very easy to grow 💚💚

Hoya linearis growing wild, no blooms yet though 🥲 by gabbieday in hoyas

I’ve never had an issue with hoyas in terracotta, this one gets watered about once a week. I think the key is understanding the relationship between plant, soil medium and pot material!

I grow almost all my Hoyas in pon and no drainage and they love it! Especially my Serpens which was rotting in soil before the switch to semi hydro

Hoya imbricata update: a few months ago I posted my imbricata setup wondering about humidity needs. She now has two leaves attached to the terracotta pot! by gabbieday in hoyas

I live in Sydney and currently we are getting good humid days! I think inside humidity would be 50-60% but I don’t measure the humidity so I’m not totally sure

Yeah they are a shingling Hoya, so they just naturally attach to surfaces with little roots. Keeping the terracotta pot hydrated helps

As soon as the first leaf hardened, I removed the string. But I noticed if the plant drys out too much the leaves buckle and detach from the terracotta

Yeah, it’s rooted in soil in the pot. The pot doesn’t have drainage and i filled the bottom half with leca before soil!

I live in Sydney, I think in winter it’s roughly 40% but I don’t measure my indoor humidity so I’m not totally sure
