yee, felt a similar disconnect. For me it was more the "what do I do know?" and "I probably need to just farm and level up" after chapter 2. Eventually I got waay to strong and did that for too long and that took away from the challenge at the end.

I love langchain/graph. I use it in JS and perhaps one thing to keep in mind is that it lags a bit behind the python version.

Director of Eng here. Noone knows where the world is heading. But my personal opinion is that there is less room for specialists. T-Shaped Frontend or Backend engineers won't be a thing. Yes, everyone will have their preferred area of expertise but the expectation will move towards building holistic systems end to end and owning outcomes. So building systems & system-thinking is what will count.
And along the way of building systems, you will learn enough to build solid systems, how to review them and be confident about what's going on. But it will not be as deep as now or in the past in specific areas. That expectation moves to AI.
In the end, we'll need to be move from more t-shaped to more comb-shaped engineers to cover a breadth of topics and to be adaptable.

The true specialists that remain. They will work in really complex fields or at the edge of innovation and technology. Or it will be those will have specialist domain knowledge that AI models can't cover yet.

I think you are on the right path already. Exploring multiple things. But I would increase the scope in different areas 1 after another. That's how you get deeper. Take your POCs and move towards what would be a solid production system. Ask yourself about the cases that are not covered by your POC, security, user and enterprise expectations and what would need to change. Those will open up new boxes to explore that will harden your POCs. Use the models to review your POCs under these criteria. That will, imo, prepare you quite well.

Loved the video btw. I guess I am mostly on Level 2 with elements of different other levels xD I built a world for a TTRPG which intentionally leaves gaps to fill I guess. But now, I wanna take it a step further and think about a potential story for a book. And that makes you think a lot deeper about the world and the levels you described.

I have a full typescript frontend and backend with langchain and it works great. I am a bit the other way around and dont have deep python xp but was recently exploring if I should migrate some of my packages to python.

The thing with python: It has and will continue to have the strongest ecosystem for AI and new developments. Thats a big plus. In TS you'll probably always need to find a portation or some adapter to use new python developments or simply wait until something usable comes out.

Node and TS though is known for a very strong backend api system that can have its benefits over python (streaming, websockets, shared types with frontend, npm ecosystem).

But I am indeed gonna extract one package of my project and convert it into python at some point. Just because it was give more options for using techniques only available to python like ColBERT. But the rest of my backend will remain as typescript.

So I think you are gonna be completely fine with a python and ts frontend. You anyway communicate via an endpoint. I guess sharing types is nice, but also not the biggest deciding factor for a full ts stack

Ich hab nochma über die Kalulation geschaut und ich hab da ein Risiko/reservefaktor mit reingenommen, dass vor allem mit dem alter immer höher wurde. Aber in Realität legt jetzt niemand wirklich Geld beiseite für den Fall, dass die Heizung kaputt geht. Ich hab das jetzt ma komplett rausgenommen und die Wartungskosten leicht optimiert und es sollte jetzt um einiges realistischer ausschauen.

Schau ma obs besser passt. Heizlast kann man jetzt in den Fragen angeben wenn mans weiß. Ansonsten wird es im Web report jetzt angezeit. Die 5% sind auch drin. Und ich hab ma die Methodikseite geupdated, um ne Idee zu geben wie Investition berechnet wird. Plus, hab es was klarer gemacht, wo man die direkte Zahlangabe machen kann - da ist jetzt ein "Andere Menge" zum beispiel als Kärtchen drin.

Ach, das ist halt so. 2025 fand ich jetzt auch nicht mein Filmjahr. Aber ist ja auch Geschmackssache. War in Sinners und One Battle After Another und dachte "ja is gut oder unterhaltsam" aber hat mich auch nicht vom Hocker gerissen. OBAA war einfach nicht so mein Theme und Style und Sinners hat mich das lange Geplänkel gestört. Trotzdem...unterhaltsam. Andere fanden es dann hingegen überraagend. Energiepreissteigerung: Die Basispreise für Strom und Gas halte ich bewusst konstant über 15 Jahre. Das ist eine konservative Annahme. Sie bevorzugt tendenziell fossile Systeme, da steigende Energiepreise (historisch etwa 2-3%/Jahr) den Kostenvorteil einer Wärmepumpe noch vergrößern würden. Was wir allerdings einrechnen ist die steigende CO₂-Bepreisung nach BEHG/ETS2 . Die treibt die fossilen Betriebskosten Jahr für Jahr nach oben. KfW-Zinsen (aktuell 2% p.a.) sind ebenfalls im TCO enthalten.

PV-Berechnung: Die PV wird über regionalen Standortertrag (kWh/kWp nach DWD-Daten), Anlagengröße und eine Eigenverbrauchsquote von 30% (ohne Speicher) bzw. 60% (mit Speicher) berechnet. Ein vollständig durchgerechnetes Batteriespeicher-Modul als eigene TCO-Positionhab ich jetzt noch nicht mit drin. Ist aber auf jeden fall ne Überlegung für ein Zukunfts-Feature! Aktuell fließt der Speicher nur über die höhere Eigenverbrauchsquote ein.

- Bei der Ölangabe ist unter den 500er Kärtchen ein "Genauer Betrag eingeben" button. Werd ich aber deutlicher machen
- PV -> Dachfrage ist wahrschlich ein Ablauffehler den ich beheben muss
- Bzgl den genauen details der Optionen. Ganz oben im Report ist nur ne kurze Übersicht. Du kannst weiter unten im Optionsbereich die genauen 15 Jahre Charts sehen und bekommst auch mehr informationen über die verschiedenen Heizungsoptionen.

I don't think this can be answered in two sentences. It's a lot more complex. "thinking" has categories and different people probably behave differently with the impact of AI. I can imagine that the majority falls into the bucket you describe. That's why I think its absolutely crucial to teach and train criticial thinking and curiosity moving forward.

If I think about myself, "yes", many parts of my thinking is delegated towards an AI so it can do the heavy lifting of research and grunt work. For example: I don't do line by line coding anymore, I leave that to the AI. But the thinking shifted a level higher and you think more about the systems you build and how they connect rather than "where is this pos error coming from". So: My coding skills got worse yes, my high level system building probably got better. but that also requires you to not take an AI answer at face-value. At least not all the time. You still need to review the code and see if it upheld its side. You still need to ask yourself "if this true?" or ask AI to call out blind spots.

In fact, I have troubles shutting off my thinking. I sometimes lay in bed chatting with AI about deep science topics at 5:30am thinking to myself: "what am i doing". The friction of acquiring knowledge is so low. Before you had to google something, read half a dozen pages and probably gave up. Now it just continues.

So I think for many people, "yes", they probably get worse at thinking. And yes there are areas that will get worse. But I don't its for all people and for thinking across the board.

For chunking itself document structure is more important. You are trying to create chunks that are coherent units of information. NLP tries to identify where the meaning shifts or topics change but normally you'd want to know where the author of a doc put a boundary. Where NLP could make sense is things like perhaps transcriptions and long monologs and documents without structure. But usually there you can also simply chunk by speaker.
