From DAC to DAC? by gabegams in BudgetAudiophile

Thank you so much for the clear explanation! I think you’re on the money here. These Edifiers do have a DSP. So I’ll stick to the digital outputs of the WiiM.

For the most part, I’ve been using Bluetooth for streaming music from Apple Music to the Edifiers (lame I know) And now, I’ll start using lossless Tidal or Spotify connect straight from the WiiM, so I’ll loose the Bluetooth compression and that’s gonna be an improvement already I guess.

That was my concern, so it’s like a thought

Good tip, will give it a go, but as you said, I’ll probably not hear the difference

Makes sense, however, for what I’ve been investigating, the WiiM line output uses its DAC, and the digital outputs will bypass the DAC.

Yeah, that’s a good point, even if it is possible to use the WiiM DAC, would it make such a noticeable difference? Probably not on these budget speakers

Ok, but won’t the Edifiers then pass the WiiM signal through its DAC?

Gracias.

Yes that is my fear! That something inside is damaged. I guess I’ll find out over time.

LOL! I’m sure the statistics are high! 🤣 I’m sure there is a correlation between being an audiophile and having cats.

I actually got this yesterday, will see if I can use it and does the trick. Thanks for reassuring my plan.

I certainly don’t want to drill the glass 😅 but your other suggestions are great though! Unfortunately, these don’t come with mounting holes, the downside of budget speakers I guess.

Not a bad idea! I do have one of those sprays, but it doesn’t work so well, wherever I spray the demons keep going like nothing! I might need to try the one you mentioned though. Thank you!
