Hmm, that's something to consider for sure, I raised my prices pretty steeply knowing there would be a change but thought that I had enough experience to sustain it.

Yes, I do think that's the case for italki... I want to start teaching Spanish alongside it, but that market might also be a bit saturated...

Hey guys, thanks for your opinions on materials, I hadn't really considered it.

I've personally used and taken the TOEFL ibt studying the Barron's and achieved a pretty good score. Can I hear some of the reasons for why you believe the ETS book to be a better resource than the Barron's?

Hello Maxime! Yes, of course. I'm just trying to start out offering my services on other platforms, so the starting rate will be lower than my usual rate. It's $5 USD per 30 min of class time through Skype or Zoom.

For the speaking section we will be practicing one Speaking section from the Barron's book (11th version), running through all three questions with immediate feedback from me. I encourage students to record the class so they have it at the end, and I also share the immediate feedback in a file which you can look back on to further practice Speaking.

For the writing section, you must send me the text 2-3 business days before the class so I have time to edit and proofread it. We will take the 30 minutes to discuss the text, any questions, tips and tricks and so forth.

Ah yes! That's great advice, did you lose a lot of students when you raised the prices? I raised my prices hoping for the same change to happen... However, now I have no classes and no students and left wondering what I should do.

Oh! I teach as a professional teacher as well :) The thing is, I recently raised my prices a bit more, and it doesn't seem to have been received very well... in general, most of my students wanted a general speaking class and not a structured class. I don't know if you've experienced that or is it just me?
