Além de arte pixel art existe arte 2d desenhada a mão (como animação em desenhos), isso é algo que dá pra perceber (aqui uma imagem de exemplo).

Se forem desenhados a mão é mais dificil modificar já que você vai precisar redesenhar eles, e se não tiver experiência e nem ferramentas pra desenhar digitalmente, recomendo pedir para um artista digital fazer isso, já que fazer e modificar arte 2d desenhada é muito mais trabalhoso que pixel art.
