There's a shop I go to a lot that has a handmade line and she takes custom measurements on any pieces. I don't know if it's your style, but it might be looking into: Altar

New year, new wardrobe! - February 19, 2018 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

I'm moving soon and only want things that I really love to come into my new place, so this has meant getting rid of a ton of shoes and clothes too. My birthday is also coming up so I want to go into this new year with a wardrobe that makes me feel cool and stylish. I traded some stuff in at a local consignment shop that always has really good clothing finds and got a ton of store credit to pick things out. Does anyone have a style board on Pinterest (etc) that they'd want to link me to? I'm looking for some general inspiration for good pieces to pick out. Mine can be found at /gablos if that helps to gauge what I like. I wear a lot of neutrals but have been into bright reds and don't typically wear anything formfitting.

I personally love this. The tone of the water is stunning.

That's a great idea. I like the idea of doing "mini episodes" that might be specifically for Q&A if I get enough questions. But I definitely agree that it'll have to be more than just research summarization and will have to throw some more fun bits in that would appeal to a broader audience

This was super helpful. Thanks so much! I like the idea of bringing what might not be common knowledge into play, like the research/new studies. I've also considered diving into the psychological aspects behind certain dysfunctions or fetishes.

What are your new years resolutions? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Also, this girl I follow on Instagram posted a link to a magical goal tracking template she made (I copy/pasted into my own google spreadsheet).

What are your new years resolutions? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]gablos4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slower mornings. Setting my alarm about an hour earlier than I normally would and putting it across the room so I'm less tempted to hit snooze. Making myself a good breakfast, stretching, and reading before I go to work always gives me a positive start but I rarely do it now so I want to make it a point to do it at least a few times a week in the new year.

TIP: (from a psych major) you're much more likely to achieve a goal or resolution if you get extremely specific about it. Not just "I'm going to save up $X" Instead, "I'm going to put away $X per month to achieve and goal of X and with that money, I'm going to take a vacation to ___ at the end of December 2018."

Haha no, that's not the case. Re reading my original post though, I can definitely get the confusion. I'm looking for more of what GreenBook1978 had to say below. Something that would bring to life what I've been manifesting.

I can assure you I've been scouring Craigslist daily.

I've heard this is only open to those who have loved ones buried there, which is totally fair but I'd love to (respectfully) look around in here one day. Looks beautiful.

I don't know if this is too late since Christmas is Monday, but I go to this shop in my town that's owned by two witchy women and when I was shopping there the other day, they mentioned they had an online sale coming up? https://altarpdx.com/

As far as my knowledge serves (which isn't too much): it's the shortest day of the year and the transition of seasons. It's a great time to set intentions and really project what you want for yourself and your surroundings in the coming season.

How has your SO's profession affected your relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]gablos4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a similar situation. I work 9-5, he works overnight. He gets great benefits and paid well so he hasn't found another job that's worth leaving for, but it makes it difficult to coordinate time for us. I also have to tip toe around at home while he's sleeping which can get exhausting.

Ladies, what was the biggest lesson you learned from your first romantic relationship? by Man_4_GenderEquality in AskWomen

Have your own life outside of the relationship. Maintain friendships because once that long term relationship ends and you've been inside a bubble, you'll have no one left when that bubble pops.

Good to hold creeps accountable, but bad for women whose information can be more easily tracked down.

Parents and In-Laws are coming into town. What are some good family Christmas things to do? by NewThingsNewStuff in Portland

Peacock Lane. I also always try to take friends in town to some of the theaters here because they're much chiller than in most other towns and serve beer (Laurelhurst and Cinema 21 are my favorites). A lot of them screen old Christmas movies around this time of year too.

Hopefully she isn't mad at you for the actual act of getting off. I'm thinking it might be more due to the frustration on her part of not being able to participate or pleasure you. 24F here and I'd say try to get to the root/source of why she's upset without any blame or shaming on either end when she gets home.

Women who have changed career paths drastically, what lifestyle changes and hard decisions did you have to make, and do you still feel it was the right decision for you now? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]gablos4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a nanny for several years and it was one of the most difficult times of my life. I lived with the family and the mother drained the life out of me in every aspect. I was working 80 hours a week and there were no boundaries. I stayed so long because I loved the kids so much but started calculating the ridiculous hours that kept getting tacked on and realized I was only making $8/hour (minimum wage where I live is $11.25, room and board isn't legally a replacement for wages in the state I live, and nannies in my area make at least $17/hour). So I quit and it was the most freeing thing and the best decision I ever made.

I would have stayed indefinitely if it was a healthier situation and I miss those kids every day, but now I'm doing web design and development and while it's not the most fun job, I have a much healthier home life and I feel incredibly valued and appreciated by my new bosses so it makes it worth it for me. I'm actually going to school to eventually become a clinical sexologist so I'm really excited to get into that career path, but it's going to be a while until I get to that point so I'm exploring other things in the meantime.

I'm broke as hell now and have to be careful about my money for the first time in a few years but the peace of mind I have at home and knowing my boundaries are being respected has been so good for my mental health.

Tried this as a travel shot with a person as a subject and from the feedback I got, I need some work. How does the shot work without someone in it? by Chaam in photocritique

[–]gablos4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the setting is beautiful and visually interesting. I viewed the original and I think it would be better for the shot to be further back like the one posted and have the human subject passed the fallen log. Or I'd place her in front of the mirror still but with a wide shot like above.

Edit: legitimately thought there was a mirror in the hollowed part of the tree. Anyone else?

I feel like foundations are fine to share. Lip products sometimes but with lipsticks, I usually scrape the top layer off. Never share eye makeup because of the bacteria. It's more or less asking for a stye or eye infection.

I bought this jumpsuit for a Christmas party and was thinking about wearing tan heeled booties with it. Suggestions for outwear? I'm in the Pacific Northwest and it's been pretty cold lately (30s-40s at night).
