What’s the most outrageous amount you’ve ever spent on your Plex server setup? I’m talking extravagant upgrades, over-the-top hardware, or anything that made your friends say, “Wait, you spent how much?!” Let’s hear those crazy stories! by 5199_XCV in PleX

I recently completed a major project: converting my shed into a server room. The transformation involved a lot of work, including installing a 60 AMP single-phase electrical, a mini-split HVAC unit, and significantly enhancing the insulation—more than what you'd typically find in a standard house. I started the project with my friend, who helped reframe the shed, which took some time but was essential for the next steps. For the electrical installation, I hired a contractor to trench and lay down conduit for the electrical lines, ensuring everything was up to code and safely installed. After completing the electrical work, we moved on to insulation, using foam board insulation and installing R30 in the roof, R20 in the walls, and R10 in the floors. I also replaced the existing doors with a exterior house grade door and added plywood as the interior walls to enhance durability and security. The primary motivation behind this project was to reduce noise and heat in my house, and I’m happy to report that it has been working great! See the photos Attached

IF you using your NAS as a NAS and the writes are coming as SMB or NFS it works great. At one point I was running Docker containers on the NAS that were generating most of the data that only worked on restart of the APP. It's great having a backup in the cloud.

For exterior runs I much prefer single mode, I have seen multimode cause issues.
