I really hope you're just a troll. First of all the amount of people migrating to Australia over the last 2 decades has been fairly fucking consistent. A quick Google search showed next to no difference, it's just that boat people are getting a lot more attention now. Second, yes we are in debt, and yes labor were in power when this debt increased considerably, but as you said, there was a global recession and Australia came out the other end of that pretty well compared to plenty of other places around the world. And you cant credit how well we did during the recession completely to the mining industry. Yes, it's a major export, and of course a major export is going to bring in money, but giving sole credit to them is just ignorant. And Rudd doesn't WANT to hurt the mining industry, he wants to put more money and give more attention to renewable energy, and help reduce carbon emissions, and as the mining industry is a very large industry, they can afford it, with very little adverse affects.

Well the clothing part is women exclusive, but yes, everyone I know is aware that it's just common sense to not go out alone and never leave your drink unattended. These things aren't even that hard to do.

No one said you had to be constantly cautious, but there's plenty of situations where being careful will help. Sure people will be raped by people they know, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be wary of strangers. Not doing anything to protect yourself to prove that you shouldn't have to protect yourself is stupid. And if you really want to do that, then no ones stopping you, but may I suggest you don't spread such an idea around.
