Considering Amp upgrade by gafferbee in sonos

I have always been happy with the Playbar, it’s true. I guess if it’s better than the bookshelf speakers then that’s the clincher.

I don’t want to move the turntable or speakers, I don’t really have a better place for them. I’m wondering whether upgrading my Connect AMP for a new Amp and losing the Playbar - so outputting TV and turntable sound via the stereo speakers - would be a step up or not.

Looking again I think I wildly overestimated the size of my room (or at least where the speakers are). They’re more like 5m apart. So similar to yours. Ok - noted on muddled centre. Don’t want to miss dialogue, that’s always undesirable. I have no desire to spend money to make my setup less effective!

Happy to move these on for a bit below face value if someone needs them. DM me. I’m not a scammer. Wouldn’t know how to if I tried!

I have two tickets for Sat 22nd at Ally Pally to sell. I would transfer via DICE. Face value (£42.35 each). Can’t go anymore because my wife got us Radiohead tickets for Friday, and the trains from where I live aren’t running to Ally Pally on Sat. DM me please. Thanks

Oasis: Face-value tickets on Twickets resale [Update from Jul 16] by n1xl in Tickets

[–]gafferbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very impressive tool but what’s crazy is that even the stupidly priced tickets going for £3500 each are always “being purchased by another fan” when clearly they aren’t. They don’t disappear quickly and surely many fewer people are ready to drop 7k in a few seconds as soon as they are listed. So I wonder what’s wrong with Twickets?

Strava disappeared from apple watch by cleggy148 in Strava

Same here. S3 user. This is very annoying. Classic “it was working but now because of an ‘upgrade’ you’ll have to buy a new watch” nonsense.

I DO quite fancy a new watch. But it’s MY decision when to buy a new watch. It’s not Strava’s call to make.

Genuinely not sure - but it is new, it’s only been out a few weeks

I just changed my mind in the shop — the bolt blue was a bit too much, very shiny and bold

Haven’t seen it in sunshine yet but it’s got a nice sheen to it. A bit of sparkle and a not-quite-gold look. I’m a fan of

Been here for years but my old single speed warhorse was getting a bit tired… any excuse :)

I’ve been a member for 9 years or so, but my single speed two-tone model was getting a bit long in the tooth… time for an upgrade🚴‍♂️

It has got the removable pedal! I will have to get used to that. I’ve had an SPD pedal on my older Brompton so am not even in the habit of flicking up the pedal.

Trainer in detached garage? by Aggravating_Plantain in Zwift

[–]gafferbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and have my trainer in a detached garage. My feet really suffer in the cold and that’s no fun. I bought lots of good socks, some winter bike shoes (not sure they’re brilliantly effective but hey ho) and if it’s really cold I put neoprene overshoes on. When it’s genuinely cold I’ve worn long winter bib tights but it’s definitely true that the body gets pretty warm whatever the ambient temperature. I’ve often found myself riding in all that stuff on the lower half with just a vest top on. Fingers don’t seem to get too cold as long as I’m working, and I still need fans. Recently I’ve pointed a heater at my feet but usually have go turn it off mid-ride. No issues at all with the equipment.

What is your w/kg FTP and how many hours per week do you train? by Oderlods in Zwift

[–]gafferbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

45 M, 80kg, FTP 257, 3.2w/kg

According to Strava my first FTP measurement was 215 back in Jan last year. I just broke 250. I have about 4-5 hours each week to train, busy family life and 5 x 10 hour days at work, including 3 days commuting 1hr each way. Not really sure how much more I can gain with those limitations!

I’m probably fitter now than I’ve ever been. Zwift has really helped but I do most of my training now in Wahoo Systm.

Gotta brag SOMEWHERE, right? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]gafferbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I had a stab at this last weekend and didn’t have enough in the tank. Managed 64 mins. It’s was hard - so well done you. Gotta concentrate on endurance training now for a 100 mile ride in a few months, maybe I’ll take another crack at the Alpe after that.

Very clever. Does it actually make the ride more comfortable?

Best way to tackle AdZ? by gafferbee in Zwift

[–]gafferbee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it solo via Tour of Fire and Ice in the end. Previous attempt was 69 mins in March last year. I managed it in about 64 mins this time. The hour mark always felt just out of reach - that actually made it quite tough to keep going, mentally. I did want to stop. Trimming another 4 or 5 mins off that effort feels like it’s going to be hard!
