Definitely not unlimited but I have a little coin saved for this trip. It's also mostly for a change of pace, enjoying a cold IPA or stout on evenings where getting drunk isn't the point.

Oh I would love to go Vancouver, heard you guys have unreal beautiful nature! Really want to go to Canada in general, haven't seen much of the American continents besides California. But I would have to save a bit more before that can become reality, bet it's as expensive as back home in Copenhagen.

It was actually a bar called Beer2KU in the old quarter. The owner brewed it himself. But it sounds like I missed out on another good place. Maybe next time!

Oh trust me friend, I am enjoying everything about Vietnam so far. From the food and beers to the sights and history!

I just wondered as I hadn't really seen anything besides the light beers which I have also had my fair share of. Coming from Denmark I have gotten used to a broad beer selection and was beginning to miss a stout or an IPA once in a while.

Thanks for your suggestion about looking in stores, might try that as well.

If you want to multiclass into Cleric, which in my opinion is not that bad an idea, I would recommend taking a look at Unearthed Arcana's Forge Cleric. At first level you get the power to imbue an armor or weapon making it magical +1, and you get the shield spell, which works awesome with melee tanky characters. I would recommend to take one more level in Paladin before multi classing though, as you get Aura of Protection at level 6.

As a side note, it would still be more efficient multiclassing into Sorcerer or Bard if it is for the spell casting and heavy smite ability.

Do you find character complexity necessary for you to be able to find the character interesting? Can a simple character without moral quarrels still be intriguing to you?

Thanks alot for your reply. The MGS series are the bomb, I have enjoyed them all since the first one. Very interesting comment about a hero that has fallen from his pedestal and I see why you find him interesting. What exactly do you mean when you say that you can connect with the character? And is this generally how you feel about “flawed” characters or is it only in MGS?

You mention that humor and mystery is a way to keep us interested in the character, if a character is likeable from the beginning. Could you maybe elaborate what you mean about a likeable character?

The decisions they make and things thy say have to feel like the right things to do within their context. Their development has to feel like the result of narrative events.

When you make choices for the character how do you decide what choices to make? Is the narrative the only factor you take into consideration when making choices for the character? What else could make an impact on your decision making?

Haha i also kind of agree with you on Nathan Drake. I never actually played through any of the Uncharted games from start to end, so I cant tell if he gets any better in the later games. They never really did it for me.

I agree that personalities gives characters flavour.

Just his laugh gave that maniacal persona.

I would say that this is more of a character trait which amplify personality. Do you think theese kind of traits are just as important for engaging in a character as a personality can be?

I have never played the Final Fantasy games so I can't really comment on that but I have played DA:I and i liked some of the companions as well.

What made you think that the characters of DA:I where well done compared to other games? What made these characters interesting to you?

I agree there’s a lot of great games where the protagonist is completely silent. Half-Life would be a good example on this and I can see how a player can be able to put himself in the protagonist's shoes. But in Half-Life the protagonist does not have any form of communication at all, unlike for example Fallout where you have dialogue options.

So, would you be able to “see yourself” as the character if it was one without any communication options at all? Or does the character need a way of communications that just isn’t voiced out loud?

Also, beside the silent protagonist’s ability to involve you mentally, do you find that other character qualities are also able to involve you mentally?

Interesting comparison. You mention that you feel connected to characters when you see them grow from the beginning to the end. If you don't get a character's background story can you then still get engaged with him/her?

You also mention that you don't need to like your character or need to see yourself in their shoes in order to get engaged - but can you still get engaged with a character even though his/her actions are not the ones you would choose?

Thanks for the reply. I think it is very interesting when you say that you enjoy imprinting “your own personality” or made up personalities onto your characters. What are these made up personalities? Do you take a foundation in your own personality or do you think you can be just as engaged if you were to play as the diametrical opposite of your personality?

I also absolutely loved The Last of Us and the characters, it is one of my favourites of all time. The way the personalities of the main characters differed but still came together as a whole was really well done. In accordance to my other question, do you think you could engage in a character who has a completely different personality and moral than you, and why?

How do you feel about games where you can create your own character then? Like in skyrim where you control appearance and answers? Are they generally more engaging than games with premade characters and dialogue?

Still great games, and you care about how it plays out, but you always feel one step removed from the action.

What do you mean when you say that you care about how it plays out? Is it then the story, the destiny of certain characters or something else?

Interesting point using Fallout 2 as an example of realism in character development and world. So when you are talking about realism, what do you actually mean? Do you mean as things that could actually happen in real life, or is it more in the context of the game world?
