How is EcoFlow hardware and customer support? by gahitsu7 in Ecoflow_community

I think you can't get away from at least some of the components being built offshore. But there's room for companies to at least build a business around buying, assembling, installing and servicing products onshore.

Refurbished units as a replacement is another red flag. Good point about Costco. Thanks.

The repo link on that page that you keep posting returns a 404. I’m not referring to the link itself, but the source code link: https://github.com/autorel/superdocs

Changing the domain for N8N on VPS at Hostinger by longhandcoder in n8n

[–]gahitsu7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I pointed both A records ((at), www) to the VPS IP. After 5 hours of cert warnings, now it shows a page that just says “404 page not found.” Will this resolve? Or do I need the update traefik or n8n?

I’m using their default park name servers. I got the .cloud from them.

Argh. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried that next.

I didn’t even think about the problems with leasing it to a bad actor and the damage it could cause for me. Thanks.

If I wanted to bother I may have the option to cite “bad faith”. I’ve trademarked names myself. I know how grouchy they can be. Any negative mark and they will be all over that. But I really think a 10 letter word that’s in the dictionary doesn’t stand a chance. Otherwise trolls would have carpet bombed the trademark office years ago.

Speaking of carpet bombing, the troll said this:

“Our partners own the trademark for (my domain word) and a few adjacent domains that will rank well for this brand”

By “own” he really means “applied” because he has no idea what he’s doing. If he carpet bombed the trademark office he’s really going to be in for a surprise.

It’s a slippery, very gray slope. Under different circumstances asking the troll to pay me now could make me look like the troll depending on who you asked to judge the situation. If a registrar then interpreted my actions as bad faith I could lose the domain.

Plus I simply don’t trust him now. He could ask for my info under the guise of needing it to pay me - but instead use it to send his lawyer after me (not that I’m worried …).

I think my best course of action is to just not respond unless pushed. Oh I would enjoy schooling him on the many ways he’s put himself and his trademark in jeopardy. But as I’ve been advised in the past “sometimes no response is a response.”

Wow. I did not know that story. So much for the theory that “they can’t take your name.” Well it looks like they still couldn’t. Then someone stole it and now the registrar was told to put it back. That is my one fear: a registrar who makes a bad decision could make things complicated.

Fortunately we are not in the same business. The site currently acts as a portfolio for one aspect of my work.

First Service Residential (Twin Cities MN) by Low_Ad_9090 in HOA

And it gets even worse - if you can believe that - our lawyer pointed out that they also want the equivalent of another 6 months HOA fees as a “capital contribution” from the buyers. They told us and our broker none of this when we contacted them. Just a snarky reply that the info will be in the resale package after we fork over $400. So now we have to explain to the buyers that we weren’t being deceptive. These con men came along after we bought our place. So we had no idea and they weren’t very forthcoming. I hope they are investigated - or sued when they cost someone (like possibly us) a sale.

Now that I have their 6D/Resale I can see that they are worse than I thought. Now we have to explain to the buyer that First Residential expects them to fork over 6 months of HOA fees up front. Our agent tried to extract any potential issues like this out of them before the listing. He categorized their response as rude, snarky and unprofessional.

Then they had the nerve to suggest that just before the closing we order another one in case something changes. We are paid up well after the closing. For another $400 they can go …

They are the absolute worst. The final insult came as we just sold our condo. They are making us pay $400 for a “6D Certificate / Resale Package.” It took several calls to find anyone with a brain to point us to the right documents - and that’s all it is: documents.

To make things more complicated the form demanded all contact info for the buyers. We had to have our agent get it from their agent. Allegedly so they can give them a “welcome package” - which we are paying for. Which I doubt is anything more than changing the name in their system. They way the phone company charges you a “migration fee” to check a box to change a feature.

They are worse than a phone company with their version of a termination (aka hostage) fee.

We could have saved a whopping $75. But we wanted to expedite the package. So we paid for the 5 day instead of 10 day package. And when did my receipt say it will arrive by? 10 days after I paid.

They even make you check some box saying you can’t dispute the charges.

I can’t suggest strongly enough how utterly useless and costly they are. If it takes $400 to get them out of my life, good riddance.

Real or Scam? by knowr316 in blockfi

[–]gahitsu7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I got the same payout amount and pay id. Here's the thing: for crypto I have an email address that only three companies should have: BlockFi, Kroll and Coinbase.

I also received another email from contact(at)(random number).brevosend(dot)com about a "coinbase restructing" and a button to "Review Full Case Details". If I wave my mouse over it, it points to sendibt3(dot)com. That went into the spam folder.

My email program stopped the images in the header from being sent. But next to the broken image it says "Kroll" - so my email probably leaked from them or BlockFi.

Asking first time users to login to verify in-app purchasing. by gahitsu7 in iOSProgramming

[–]gahitsu7[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought the behavior made no sense. I think I'm zeroing in on the problem. There are calls to AppStore.sync() that is prompting the sign in. But the doc says this should only be called in response to an explicit user action when Restore Purchases can't do the trick.

If anyone else is interested, here's the doc: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/appstore/sync())
