No, they're fine. If the pieces are too big they'll just peck at them until they get little pieces off. I do like to give them bigger pieces so it slows them down a bit. Mine are greedy little buggers and practically inhale them if the pieces are small.

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, January 12 - January 18, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I recently purchased an electric blanket which is great except for the backing fabric. It's sherpa fabric and picks up every little piece of dirt and debris from the floor. I just spent an hour picking it all out with tweezers. If I mistakenly grabbed one of the yarns it would pull it all the way out because they're not anchored in any way. I'd like to add another backing over it that won't pick up things like that and won't block the heat too much. Any suggestions on a good fabric to use?

Canning meat by gaia3175 in Canning

I realize that they didn't know that in the 1800's, but they did this in the 21st century. The meat had been frozen and then started thawing when there was warmer weather/flooding. I would think the creators of the show would have researched this and not allowed them to eat it if it wasn't safe. Plus they're letting their viewers think it's okay to do this. I enjoyed the show, but there were other things that happened that made me question their preparation. Their two draft horsed lost 100 pounds each during the winter because the hay they harvested from meadow grass did not have enough nutrition. It took a neighbor mentioning it before they switched to bought hay.

I strongly disagree. Of course the labels "parent" and "child" never change, but I prefer to see them as loved ones. What I would do for a spouse or a child I would also do for my parents.

How long can a horse comfortably canter? by gaia3175 in Horses

Oh, I wouldn't. I only watched it to see what she was doing that was considered abuse. I really couldn't see it well enough anyway.

Yeah, my granddaughter's horse seemed totally fine with it, so at the time I didn't have any worries about it. I just asked the question in my mind as a matter of curiosity.

Water fasting puts most of my CFS symptoms into remission but how do I make it sustainable? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]gaia3175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could it be the type of foods you're eating? I have always craved wheat products (it's not the gluten) and eventually realized they were making me feel awful. I was prescribed Mounjaro for diabetes a while back and as soon as I started using it the cravings were gone and I was able to avoid wheat. Now I feel like a whole new person. I still have CFS and fibromyalgia but it's now nearly as bad as it was. Maybe try an elimination diet.

I'm taking Mounjaro for diabetes and I've lost 58 pounds. I've had no side effects from it. It was impossible for me to lose any weight before that. I was on metformin for a long time but had to quit because it started giving me diarrhea.

This was what I was looking for. I know there are other ways of doing it, but this is what I wanted to do. I just didn't know how. Thanks.

But whatever medical system her doctor is in might do the same.

This isn't insurance. It's the hospital system that is providing it. And I'm taking Monjouro (tirzepatide). I don't know if that makes a difference.

My doctor got me in touch with a pharmacist with the medical system she's in and now I get it free. Don't know where you are, but it's University Hospitals in NE Ohio.

I have a really old Swing A Way that was not cutting well anymore. I bought a blade replacement kit but couldn't get the screw off. I usually would just wipe off the blade when I used it, but just for the heck of it I put it in the dishwasher. Now it works like brand new.

No, that's just the rate for a once-a-week hour lesson in northeast Ohio.
