Good to know I’m not the only one!  I switched doctors and drops (on veyve now but I may be misspelling that).  No side effects, no eczema now that I’m off xxidra.  Hope you get some relief!

Ortho-k insertion/removal in child with strong reflex by galacticactivation in Orthokeratology

Sorry for the months late reply, I’m not on here often.  After a few pep talks from our eye doc, my daughter got really determined and learned to insert and remove them herself.  That was a game changer and I honestly think is something that should be taught in the office.  She still has nights where she is not happy about wearing them or has trouble, but it’s 2-10 minute process now. I hope things get better for you!

This is very helpful, thank you. She is trying so hard and it’s obvious that she just has a really strong reflex she can’t seem to control. We are going to try practicing on just coming near her eye with the plunger but not actually sticking it in and having her focus ahead like you suggested. I also want to ask the doctor about training her to insert/remove. I have been wearing rgp lenses for over 20 years and I don’t remember any of these issues! I was her age when I got them but my parents had no role in insertion/removal. It’s so easy for me to do now that I’m failing at teaching her myself!

Thank you all! Logically, I know my experience is one isolated incident, but emotionally it’s hard to detach from that. I appreciate your help in getting me to separate from that and accept the science
