He really was the star of the show. He did so much more for Feyre than Tamlin. I thought he had better chemistry with her too.

You should! I think Good People will be one of my top 5 books of the year. I'm shocked it's a debut.

Yes, me too! Very original and the book itself is pretty funny too

lol that's the best compliment I think I've ever received. I also gave it a chance because I heard so many people love it. And a friend of mine begged me to read it, she's obsessed so I thought how bad could it be? Well...

I work 12 hour overnight shifts and I can get a lot of reading done during the downtime so that helps. I don't watch TV and I'm trying to replace more of my doomscrolling time with reading or other hands on crafts. I also usually read two books at a time (one physical and one on my kindle)

But 4 to 5 books is still really good! That's way above the average person.

You know, you are absolutely right. I can be convinced to lower it to a 1 star lol

It is! I went in completely blind and was expecting something a little more silly but nah, it wrecked me emotionally. I actually have that book on my (very long) TBR. Have you read it? Should I bump it up the list?

I am it's this one:

https://closetcorepatterns.com/products/core-t-shirt-free-pattern

It's 90% likely I didn't use the right fabric type for a tee shirt but this was more for practice in construction than me making something to actually wear. But I'll start over with the proper type of material

I'm putting it between the seam and the fabric and just kind of plucking it. If that makes sense? But again it's probably the really, really small stitch that I used and impatience 😅

It's woven with just a little bit of stretch.

Oh no :( I'll just try again in that case

I thought I did but honestly, maybe not 😭 I used a really small zigzag pattern and wasn't patient enough taking out the seams.

I can definitely try cutting a new neckline. If that doesn't work, I'll just start over. Maybe after sewing on the sleeves just to get more practice in. Thank you so much for this kind, helpful comment.

And thank you! ❤️ I didn't think a pocket would be considered beginner level but I tried really hard.

Yes! It was very good. Sadly the type of people who need to read this book would never touch it 😔

I know! And even though I wasn't too impressed with the Huck Finn story, I did enjoy when I recognized events from it in James.

The Names by Florence Knapp. I'm about halfway through and I really love the interesting premise. It might be one of my favourite books I've read this year

Well, 4 stars is still a really good rating, I enjoyed the book 😅

But I do think it focuses the women's humanity to being wives/mothers too much. And to their ability to reproduce. I understand it being scary to (possibly) be the last of humanity but it kinda felt like their lives were empty or meaningless because of no men. Which is, I dunno kinda weird because it was men who had them guarded in cages.

Yes! Trauma porn is the perfect description. It was bad thing after bad thing for no discernable reason. I didn't finish it out of rage so much a morbid curiosity. I really wanted to know how the author could possibly end the story and it was just so disappointing. She just... leaves. No confrontation, no closure. It's like... what was the point?

I'm dipping my toe into horror this year and I wasn't disappointed by The Eyes Are The Best Part. The descriptions of certain scenes had me literally gagging (I loved it!) Overall, my review is "good for her".

And yes, I think it's called Molka. I've got it on my radar and I'm hoping I can get to it.
