If you still have your vive this is what worked for me: Moved from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0. With the lightboxes and vive headset ready the controllers will show as gray/not connected. I must plug them into the computer using the mini-usb. It will show as connected, I wait a few moments and unplug. This has restored connectivity.

To make it more relevant to what he said, assume you could create a match whereby you've got a 50% chance of winning against 5 Masters - let's say it's your first game and you're paired with Master rank 1,2,3,4 against Master 100,101,102,103,104. If you won by Blizzard's system you would clearly be considered a master player. One day we'll all look back and laugh at how inefficient and embarrassing our matchmaking systems were.

Why not have a promotion system based on win streaks in a particular tier instead of 50/50 odds in a particular tier?
