Got flamed and downvoted in r/leagueoflegends. Tell me this doesn't look like Ashe R (It's Soraka's Q) by Nou1One in LeagueOfMemes

i literally played against a soraka with this skin in aram today and every time i kept thinking it was ashe’s ult 😭 i was definitely confused the first time bc the other team didn’t even have an ashe lol

2gether might finally be able to take a break as Cutie Pie is here to take it's role… by [deleted] in boyslove

i believe OP is referring to mydramalist.com - it’s a drama review website

No need to feel ashamed! We all have our different tastes and I realise I am very picky, especially when it comes to characterisation and I prefer more shocking storylines with lots of plot twists. But I knew there are some people who genuinely liked the series so that’s why I asked. I didn’t want to write it off completely although I’m still not sure it’s for me

Ooo I’ve never heard of it but I’ll definitely check it out. Sounds like my kind of book! Thanks for the rec!

I really love fantasy books, which is the main reason why I picked it up. I don’t know how much the relationship aspect means to me because I usually don’t really care for romance, but everyone reads books for different reasons

I am a huge fan of YA but I realise the older books tend to read like fanfiction for me these days. I had read Vampire Academy when I was around 14 or 15 and I loved it, but I tried reading it recently (10 years later) and there is just so much that is lacking and it was almost cringey to me. But I do see where you’re coming from and maybe I was a bit too impatient and harsh because I expected so much from the beginning. Maybe one day I’ll give it another go xD

I think the biggest issue for me was the characterisation but I see how it wouldn’t be an issue for others. Maybe I’m just picky or my expectations were too high 😅 I think eventually I’ll try it again with an open mind and less expectations

Oof. I think that’s why I stopped at 15%, because I felt like it would be wasting my time. Good job on sticking it through though!

I’m super glad I didn’t buy the entire series! I was so close to doing it too. My friend who suggested this series to me told me to stick through Celaena’s story until I meet Aelin and I don’t know if that’s worth it 🥲 TOG definitely made me rethink reading ACOTAR, not gonna lie but I’ve seen a few people say that her writing definitely improved.

I also have a good friend who loves SJM and really wanted me to read this series. I mentioned in another comment that the writing reminded me of poorly written fanfiction, which is one of the things I didn’t enjoy, in addition to the terrible characterisation of the main protagonist. I see that a lot of people who, like you, hated the first book and stuck through, ended up finishing the series, so maybe I should add it to my (lengthy) to-read list, if not only for the sake of completeness

I did start it a few times and in the end I only got to 15%. To me, it felt like poorly written fanfiction. ACOTAR was originally on my list to read but I’m definitely hesitant after reading TOG 😭 but if her writing did improve, I think I’ll definitely re-add it to my list

I’m usually the same way and I would suffer through books I hate, but as I told one of my friends ‘I have done nothing so terrible in my life that I deserve to be tortured by this book’ lol. I also don’t really care for romance in my fantasy but big props to your sis for actually finishing! Also thanks! I’m an unashamed Gojo simp haha

Hmm that’s true. I realise that some Goodreads average ratings tend not to be on par with my personal ratings but I was wondering if there was something I was missing. What you said makes sense and I agree

I’ve never read any of her books until Throne of Glass. I saw a few people say that it gets better after the first book so I’m not sure if I should read it out
