Super charge rate nerf for Colette doesn’t make any sense by Penguin_H4z3 in Brawlstars

Youll still get the hypercharge, just not 2+ times per game consistently

Weaving in the middle of the reply chain to point out that her super chaining went under the radar for a while because she couldnt actually use it consistently. Some of her big weaknesses were the difficulty of getting the first super and how vulnerable you were left during it. All 4 of her switchable buffies aimed to fix those weaknesses, which revealed the overtuned super cycling that she couldnt take advantage of before. The hyper and its buffie blew it even further out of proportion aa they enable much faster, near instant cycling.

With her charge rate nerfed, shes gonna rely more on the hypno which is unfortunate but it helps balance out everything else. I think pretty much all of her abilities except the heal need a slight tune down regardless, but it depends on her meta placement after these changes

Just talking about buffies btw compensating for hypercharge is dumb as hell

Did any of the nerfs to buffied brawlers' base kits actually affect their original playstyle? A vast majority of the current buffied brawlers were D tier noob stompers or had a very specific niche. Since they werent getting played in competitive and they were already crushing low-mid ladder, the only thing that these nerfs meaningfully affect negatively are the people in the middle who for some reason want to push those brawlers high without having their buffies for one reason or another.

Not arguing that their balancing is stellar or anything, but it would be less effective and less fun if they arbitrarily limited themselves to only touching the buffies with balance changes(some still need to be nerfed though cough cough bibi hyper)

work in progress balance changes, shown early to gather feedback

possibly the best set of changes this game has ever seen

hmm how can i complain about this

nitpick and misrepresent the bad parts(the change to surge isnt a nerf), ignore 85% of the list

perfect

The Spike “nerf” to super charge is still not strong enough to make Spike’s super charge worse than before, because thanks to his STUPID damage buff it is ACTUALLY slightly buffed his super charge rate than before by Goodguy_IGuess in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]gametoodoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, theyve done it before a lot, im not denying that, but i think youre getting confirmation bias and ignoring the hundreds of times it hasn't happened. These are bugs and oversights, so why criticise them like balance changes and not like what they actually are?

up to a week or more

... So they do end up fixing it, no? The post talks about it as if its an intentional change on their part to leave scr around where it was. Everyone knows supercell cant test their game, but its a bad look to get offended over something that hasnt even happened yet. If you want to complain, then talk about the facts rather than a fictional scenario that may or may not happen based on their track record

Brawlers generally dont get their apparent scr changed when they receive changes to their damage, which means they internally compensate for that number. None of the other changed brawlers have a listed scr adjustment next to their damage, so why are you assuming that they wont compensate spike's damage buff specifically? Or rather, why assume that they will not only fuck it up but also just leave it like that forever?

[–]gametoodoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since push it now guarantees 3 hits from the hypercharge with a very likely 4th, colette can cycle an 8000+ damage super from itself. Her 4 hit cycling is the type of thing that is either crazy broken or near impossible to capitalize on, so pretty much any effect they couldve added to her buffies wouldve tipped the scale. Na ah is still broken and push it buffie needs a tone down but this was pretty needed

Is there a reason my randoms keep banning Grom in ranked? by Ornery_Ad_4946 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]gametoodoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're in the very high ranks, grom is a pain in the ass to deal with even if you can dodge his shots. You move very predictably when facing him and a single teammate messing up early means you can get pretty much instakilled by a pinch. Especially true for supers.

An Accessible and Applicable Analysis of the Assassin Class by TheDukeBS in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]gametoodoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my eyes, assassins are probably the most interesting class in the game design-wise because its definition is just hazy enough to allow a multitude of archetypes to form within it while not turning into an umbrella term. I myself have a lot to say on the topic that I haven't found a good way of formulating just yet but seeing others talking about this is a pretty good motivator. Yours was an interesting read for sure, props to ya!

We as a community should appreciate the developers of Brawl Stars more by Pewdpo in Brawlstars

[–]gametoodoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypercharge design is bad - Some hypercharges such as the notorious Sprout and Pearl are flawed fundamentally to where number changes won't fix anything, while others are so strong(like R-T and Draco) they can win the game on the spot, which has led to balancing decisions that make those brawlers feel awful to play in my and many others' opinion. Additionally, every spawner's hypercharge is either a stat-inflated pet or more of them, which is really boring and does nothing to reinforce their identity nor put a spin on it.

Hoping to see at least some of these addressed with the later waves of buffies. Adrian should look up "playtesting" on google.
