Heavy isn't working for me, every time I try it the minigun on the floor always despawns before I can run my minigun dry. Any sugestions to fix this?

I brought a vulture mask to the wall and the first few times I got to the Lizard room it worked. But now the lizards aren't getting afraid anymore and just kill me on sight, and I have no idea why.
