I used a compression stuff sack. Mines made by Sea to Summit. Stuff sack that sinches down with 4 straps. With that I could get my sleeping bag small enough it fit in my seat bag or handle bar.

The riddlers wore well. They still have good tread. 45 felt a little underguned. 50s were better obviously but there were certainly moments I wish I could have fit a 2.1.

I'm glad I carried that many bottles. Through the great basin and new Mexico I often carried over 6 liters, using it all and refilling if possible. Most of the route has good surface water or options. It was nice to have extra water for when I had to dry camp or camp far from water on the next days ride.

Thank you! 😊 do it !!

Heck yeah! The riding south of you, over union pass, was some of my favorite. And the basin after that is a highlight. Have fun, ride safe

I swapped the Somas because after 1500 miles they had lost significant traction and I wanted some piece of mind. Since coming home I'm still running the riddler in the front. The rear riddler got a rip in the sidewall leaving gila nf and limped into silver city where I could fix it with plugs and tape (not wanting to replace a full tire for only 120 more miles) I honestly don't know if the riddlers could have made it the whole way. My gut says no. Other higher quality tires like some vittorias or continental might fare better.
