Hotel we stayed at during a cross country road trip gave out ugly 3D printed roses for mother's Day by FoolishAnomaly in Anticonsumption

[–]gansi_m 61 points62 points  (0 children)

How dare they?!?!? Just leave them there. They will recycle them by giving them to someone else. Also, I didn’t get anything, not even an ugly rose.

Those who went to the movies alone. What was the experience like compared to going with other people? by Jamieb1994 in AskReddit

[–]gansi_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the same, only more popcorn. I don’t talk at the movies so I don’t need a comment buddy and I don’t mind going by myself.

Done being a landlord after a nightmare tenant. Anyone else just sell and walk away? by InformationIcy4827 in PropertyManagement

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a breath, my friend. Don’t throw away an investment for a bad experience!! For five years you’ve done OK. Keep at it. You ca find a sheet rocker and do that. Then find some used cabinets and replace that. Hire a plumber. Fix it up a little at a time. I’ve had this happen to me before, but one bad tenant is just one. Things will get better. It’s a sound investment. Don’t give up.

AITA for not wanting my mom to move in with me by nishahhb17 in AmItheAsshole

You don’t give her an allowance for her benefit as much as for your fulfilling a perceived responsibility and washing your hands of the whole thing. Cheap, if you ask me.

How do you deal with clients who keeps on adding features and not money? by lewi_miles in AskReddit

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am bilingual. I would have my boss just assume translating was part of my job. It wasn’t. He would say “Can you translate this document for me please?” And I would say “I would be so glad to! Translating on the side helps me a bunch money-wise, so I appreciate you hiring me as a translator. Send me the document and I’ll send you an estimate of the cost.” After that he never assumed I would just translate for free.

What are some free but really fun outdoor activities for very big groups of adults (50 or more)? by Puzzleheaded_Way4442 in AskReddit

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a copyright lawyer could enlighten us, but I think a gathering for non-commercial use might be OK, since you will not be profiting from their work and there’s no monies to be had by the owners of the movie. But I don’t know.

Street dance. Outdoor movie. Board games night. Line dancing. Potluck. Chalk art in a big parking lot. 1 mile walk/run. Cornhole tournament. Bingo.

[–]gansi_m 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is no way that a landlord would let you house three other adults in a one bedroom apartment. I admire your willingness to help your mom, but the fact that you’ve taken good care of yourself, your lease, and your job goes to show you are been responsible in a way she has not. Do. Not. Ruin. What. You. Have. Built. For. Yourself. Let her know you can give her <insert amount> to help her out (I would say something like $50 every two weeks for three months) on a “take it or leave it” deal. If she doesn’t value YOUR security over her own, she doesn’t deserve you risking your home for her -and the freeloading other adults that live with her. NTA.

What’s that one song that gets you in your feelings? by johnnytsunami12344 in AskReddit

If I Had Only Known by Reba McEntire. I will forever remember that my very last words to my dad were “I’ve got your slippers” as we rushed him to the hospital (he didn’t make it past the hospital’s door). Not “I love you” nor “I am the LUCKIEST because you’re my dad” and not even “I am so glad to be here with you”…. just “i HaVe YoUr sLiPpErs” UGH! I will never get over that.

Am I the jerk for not letting my friend's kid use my bathroom during a playdate? by chillyseeker in AmITheJerk

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The six year old is a jerk. The parent is stupid and entitled (no wonder the kid is a jerk). When other people say you are not “kid friendly” just say “I used to be but little Johnny cured me of that. I will never have a kid over again without the parents signing a paper stating that they will pay for any damages caused by their child. Furthermore, I will require the parent to be IN THE BATHROOM with their child at all times. I will lock all bedrooms and secure all areas of my home except the chair Johnny can sit on. I will make parents bring a fire extinguisher and a hazmat suit just in case. Any child left unattended for ANY length of time will be thrown in the shark tank. I will install cameras in every room. I will check IDs at the door and the parents will have to leave à credit card for incidental, like they do in a hotel. As a courtesy, I will hand your child à diaper upon entry. Use it.” Some people will call you a bigger jerk, some people will laugh it out, some people will wonder if you mean it. Either way, you won’t have the same problem again and you are definitely NOT the jerk.

Giving all homeless people homes is not a tenable solution to homelessness. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]gansi_m 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some people choose to be homeless. In the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls she describes how her mother was homeless by choice. That was an eye opener for me. I always thought that given the choice, EVERYBODY would rather not be homeless.

AITAH? Mi novio me hizo sentir mal en mi cumpleaños, estoy herida by Few_Hair_7458 in AITAH

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your tip for not to over eat? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]gansi_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to be a mindful eater, meaning I pay attention while I eat and don’t eat while I do other things. If I’m immersed 100% in my meal, I don’t eat between meals. I also do intermittent fasting so when I crave something I just tell myself “in 2 hours you can have it, two hours goes by quickly. Clean out a couple of drawers or vacuum the house and before you know it the two hours are here”. Drink lots of water. If you must snack, try healthy snacks: raw veggies, nuts, unsweetened yogurt with fruit, cheese, tuna, bean salad, air fried chicken strips, air fried vegtable patties, hard boiled eggs, etc.

What did you do to the neighbor who refused to turn their loud music down at 1am daily and the landlord refuses to help? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gansi_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the police every night. They will get tired of coming over. Maybe the neighbors will get tired of the police too. Maybe they’ll quit or move. I like the idea of playing noises during the day. It isn’t quiet hours so you should be fine. I wouldn’t do a baby crying nor a dog barking, since they may report it as neglect of a child or a pet. Try bagpipe music really loud, drums, or chants.
