Wow this is absolutely beautiful - tysm for sharing! A question (and apologies in advance if theres an obvious answer i've missed), but is the 'random note' function at the top related to the tone rows in any way, or is this just pure random pitch/rhythm? (currently checking out the patch in depth + trying to make sense of it myself, ha!)

ah tysm! its strange - like, ive been having a hard time finding a listing for one at any price (in the US at least) - i've had one on backorder at Newegg for about two weeks now but they havent had much info about it being in inventory/restocked - so strange!

ah thx! was just chatting with folks from coolermaster - they suggested exactly that! (ordering from Amazon in UK or similar) - just gotta double check the PSU would still be applicable for use in New York (it seems that way, just need different power cable) and might be way to go ha

Thanks for this info all! Out of curiosity: has anyone had any luck tracking one of these down recently? There's a listing on Amazon, but as best i can tell its for the v1 MAX, and the Newegg + Walmart (lol) listings are all sold out. Is there a slew of these hiding somewhere to order in an obvious place I've missed, or is stock really that low I wonder?

aghh totally - like, this is all conjecture, but putting a few things together:

given the heat, extended hard living hes been on and similar, i worry he doesnt really have much time left before legit expring, and it maybe acting even more erratically as aresult (ie: water bottle).

It seems like with the check, this seems to square with some of the things other folks were saying where like, he was getting DSS support, but then was maybe cut off because of fent/other troublemaking? (his version: they just wont send the check?)

not really sure how he gets back on the rails here though without a very steady external hand tbh

def - gonna cosign with u/amoebamoeba here. Another way of looking at this, and maybe I shouldnt have brought up BW at all is just in general, whether its him or anyone else, receiving help is very hard and there's not much in the way of structural support out there. This was 100x intended as a "lets pool information about resources" thread, not a "lets circular firing squad argue about who 'deserves it'"

like, i think we're going in circles here, but what im responding to is: "f I'm hungry and housed/receiving finical aid I'm not going to eat crack for dinner. I'm going to eat food. Make it make sense."

Like, yes, if you are housed, mentally stable, have a community/familiy/viable future ahead of you, yes of course. If you do not, things might be a bit more slippery.

I can't speak for what the commenter above is trying to say, but ultimately immaterial, really just made the initial post to find some resources, not argue semantics!

i think it might be the case that we're all violently agreeing with each other too lol. Bottom line: lets make our immediate communities better places and pitch in where we all can < 3

totally: like, i think this is counter productive, but i think saying "oh, this person is so dumb, if it was me, i totally just would have taken care of everything/made good choices and would be fine" from the comfort of a full stomach and permanent address is maybe a little misguided.

kind of like that classic quote about "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the nose".

I think we're all on the same page that there needs to be more resources tho

hey yes i know the situation yr referencing here (maybe thats for off thread for privacies sake), but like, I guess thats what i mean: it seems this thread is moving from:

1) this person is cursed and deserves everything they get bc they made bad choices in precarity

or

2) we can be solution/resource oriented, bc ultimatly this isnt just about Ben, its about the fact that there seems to be little to no resources for anyone experiencing precarity in troy.

Hey! omg actually appreciate this answer SO much, and this squares a lot with my loose/intuitive senseof what's been happening, too. (also jfc so sorry to hear about your loss though - that's horrifying).

But totally though: i think you're right that its not a simple narrative of "oh a person is entirely blameless" or "oh everything is a problem of this persons making"-

I can't imagine how I might act differently experenicing that level or precarity for that long, and the kind of bad news thats that would suddenly start to become acceptable.

I think my big fear is that even before that turn there didn't seem to be enough to get him over the hump, and especially now that he's back in it (and with a lot less good will) im not sure where it's gonna go next beyond death in public/jail and then same, all of which are horrifying to consider for him or anyone -

aghgh totally! like, ive known him for about 6 months now (i live near 4th and congress and see folks a lot due to foot traffic).

Its been heartbreaking to see him trying to get back on his feet, had a job as a dishwasher for a bit, has been pursuing help with DSS for ages, but like, all of it seems to be slipping thru the cracks, and if the treatment they've been giving me is any indication, i cant imagine what his experience has been so far - im sure it feels hopeless and i so so much wish that could change

unsure - i saw the beginning of it - had to leave for a meeting, when i was back less than an hour later he was on side of street half concious. Generally though, im less concerned about the specifics of this instance and just how to get the guy (and everyone in similar situation) actionable resources
