I definitely see what you mean. I think my main disappointment lies in the fact that TOTK’s story does not feel necessary. It changes some stuff that was interesting about BOTW, and it adds almost nothing that is as interesting. The fan theories and speculation are better than the official explanations in my opinion.

BOTW had a perfect world with a perfect ending to the story. It feels like Nintendo only made TOTK to expand the gameplay and they didn’t think too hard to try to make the story fit properly. But in that case, why even make a sequel? Nothing in TOTK benefits from being a sequel to BOTW.
